This telling of the classic Beowulf tale is pure genius. The adult humor is subtle enough to read this to your children as a bed time story... if you can keep a straight enough face while you read it. The illustrations are hillarious, and the prose echoes the Dick and Jane format at just the right times to make you giggle. For those adults without children, but with adult friends intersted in classical literature, medieval history, or the SCA, and alcohol... this book is a winner.

It is the perfect thing to read after a night of moderate drinking at Pennsic, when you have retired back to camp with your friends. A great set of laughs to be had by the light of a campfire!

This book is obviously a labor of love. The text is lyrical and funny, and the artwork has a great eye for parody, and lots of little bits that will make you laugh. I don't know when it will be in print again, but I will definetly buy some for my friends with kids, and for my friends who are history/lit buffs. Thanks to Bill Howard and Stephen Melvin for creating such a fun little book!
