STOP THE GAME OF BLAME AND SHAME,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Berenstain Bears and the Blame Game (Paperback)
Once again, the peace and serenity of Bear Country is shattered by the boisterous exchange between Brother and Sister Bear. Even the usually patient Mama Bear could not help but blow her top off. Papa Bear comes to the rescue by showing the way. He puts things right by getting Brother, Sister and even Mama Bear to chip in and help. By reading this story to my sons, they saw themselves in similar situations and decided for themselves that the more time spent on righting wrongs and the less time spent on the blaming game could go a long way in promoting a loving, healthy and harmonious family relationship. Without being preachy, this book is a good read and teaches family values at the same time.

The Berenstain Bears Are A Family Favorite,
This review is from: The Berenstain Bears and the Blame Game (Paperback)
We own at lease 10 of these children's books! Each story teaches a different life lesson. "The Blame Game." teaches not to waste time blaming others for what is most likely, simply an accident. When sister bear breaks the window, she blames brother bear for pitching the ball so close to the house.
Finally, papa bear steps in to stop the bickering. Mother bear and papa bear work together to get the kids to act more responsibly and stop "the blame game." Great stories for kids!

My son loves these books and I love the lessons they teach. We have over 15 of these books. I appreciate how Mom and Dad work together to teach the kids lessons, however this one did not deliver like others. This one ended on a note that seemed abrupt. I even wondered what sort of lesson or outcome they desired. Usually my son wants to read the books again right away, but this one has only been read once, so I think he even struggled with understanding it completely. I still gave it four stars anyway, because we do enjoy the books at my house.

Two boys' review: Muddled story misses the mark,

We bought this book along with The Berenstain Bears and the Bad Dream and The Berenstain Bears Count Their Blessings. I wrote Amazon reviews for those books as well and recommend them.
I don't recommend "The Berenstain Bears and the Blame Game." This book starts off with brother and sister bear arguing over who was responsible for a broken vase in the living room. Mama Bear is angry and tired of the blame game. Papa Bear intervenes, cleaning up the mess with the help of the children while Mama Bear calms down. His lesson is "there's always enough blame to go around" so work together to fix the problem. The book suddenly shifts to a second accident, a broken picture window, and Mama and Papa Bear reverse roles, concluding again with "there's always enough blame to go around." The book clearly illustrates a resolution (clean it up) but the story misses the opportunity to address the root problem behind the blame game. The book simply isn't as good as The Berenstain Bears Get in a Fight. Our sons, ages 6 and 4, enjoy the Berenstain Bears books (we own more than 10 now) and find it easy to relate to the young bears in the series. I like to mix these stories into our rotation of bedtime books to reinforce good manners and behaviors. While I still recommend the Berenstain books listed below, we're running into a new problem: as each book is exclusive, the characters don't evolve. My sons are asking why brother and sister bear didn't learn from the last book. The good news is that my sons remember the lessons; the bad news is that the Berenstain bears don't. We own and recommend: The Berenstain Bears and the Trouble with Chores The Berenstain Bears Help Around the House The Berenstain Bears Forget Their Manners

We love the Berenstain Bears in our household. We have 2 girls who are 2 years apart and starting the "blame game" and we found this book helpful. We'll read it with the girls and then discuss it. There are times when we just read it to keep the story fresh in their minds. I found it to be helpful to me also, it's a good reminder that yelling and shouting don't solve the problem at hand and to focus on a solution together is a more productive solution.

Love the Berenstain Bear books. This is a great story for helping children quit the blaming cycle. Used with my own children and my students.

The Berenstain Bears were highly recommended by my friend. Unfortunately I couldn't find them on the bookstore shelfs in my locality. So I opted for buying them at Amazon online. In a nutshell, these books teach simple life lessons in a way a young child can relate to and understand. For example, where the bears forget their manners, Mama Bear gives them chores to do around the house, to help them remember their manners the next time. And when the little bears tell a lie, its the sad look on Mama's face that make them decide to tell the truth

My daugther has several of the Berenstain Bear books and she loves reading them. They have a positive message for children while keeping their attention. Even though she reads at a higher level, she still loves these books.
