5.0 out of 5 stars In-Crowed
When a new hip cub moves into town everyone is amazed by her. They start dressing like her, acting like her etc etc. Sister is the only one who is not in the "in-crowed" what is she to do?

This book teachs kids that you don't need to dress a certain way or act a certain way just to be liked.

3.0 out of 5 stars A decent book for the topic, but not Berenstain's best
My daughter is in a preschool class that is already very clique-ish. I picked this book to help her see that it's not nice to be in a clique. The storyline was OK in accomplishing that, but still lacked what I was looking for. However, I haven't found a better one.

It's especially hard to find books that teach kids that being the "cool kid" is not cool if...

5.0 out of 5 stars They don't make them like this anymore, November 29, 2011
This review is from: The Berenstain Bears and the In-Crowd (Paperback)
I think there's a very good reason that this book series has spanned decades and maintained popularity. It gives children the chance to think on their own and make their own choices for behaviors that carry over into their adult lives. Many of these issues will be ones that will persist through their lives, just on different levels of course.

Even as an adult we will deal with peer pressure situations where we are out casted from people that were once our friends, or people we want to become our friends. I think sometimes it's good to go back to ideas like this book, naturally not quite as simplistic, but the principle is the same.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book that teaches you self confidence, August 11, 2005
This review is from: The Berenstain Bears and the In-Crowd (Paperback)
This book tells the story of sister bear when she meets a young cub that recently arrived to town. This new cub is a little annoying, and at first it makes sister sad.

But she finally realizes that with self confidence, she can be herself, and have good times with her real friends.

My 4 year old loves it.

I used to read these to my friend's little girl. When my twin's were due, that same little girl (by then a teenager) sent me a collection of books. My children loved them all and we read at least two Berenstain Bears stories each and every night. Well now my friend's little girl is all grown up, married and expecting her own baby... what better baby gift than a collection of Berenstain Bears books? They are a very likable family of bears and each book has a little theme and wholesome message. They are great for 2-4 year olds. Amazon let me ship the box directly to their door for FREE! Thanks Amazon!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good for the beginning reader, November 22, 2008
This review is from: The Berenstain Bears and the In-Crowd (Paperback)
My daugther has several of the Berenstain Bear books and she loves reading them. They have a positive message for children while keeping their attention. Even though she reads at a higher level, she still loves these books.

It's especially hard to find books that teach kids that being the "cool kid" is not cool if you are excluding others. I think this IS the best I've found at dealing with that. Most of the books on bullying and excluding others are written for the bullied kid. My daughter IS one of the "cool kids" and I'm trying to teach her to include everyone. I'd like to find a storyline with a kid who stands up for other kids who are picked on and is therefore the "cool" kid because of his/her generous heart.
