About the Author

Stan and Jan Berenstain were already successful cartoonists for magazines and adult humor books when they began writing children's books. The first story starring the bear family, The Big Honey Hunt, appeared in 1962. Since then, more than 370 Berenstain Bears books have been published, and more than 300 million copies have been sold. What began as an idea sparked by their young sons' love of reading has become over the years arguably the best-selling children's book series ever.

Since their inception, the Berenstain Bears stories have expanded to include picture books, beginning readers, and chapter books--even a hit TV show on PBS. Writing and illustrating the books has become a Berenstain family affair. Mike joined with his parents as a creative team in the late 1980s. The Bear family has expanded over the years as well. Sister Bear arrived in 1974, and baby Honey joined the family in 2000.

Though Stan died in 2005 and Jan in 2012, Mike continues to create the delightful Berenstain Bear adventures from his studio in Pennsylvania.

My boys love the Berenstain bears.

The background music is an annoying tanbourine and flute that never changes and becomes way too loud in between narrations.
Marna Sampognaro
We use the books on CD every night.

There are two CDs for a total of 90 minutes.
The eleven stories are:
The Bears' Vacation
The Bears' Picnic
Bears in the Night
The Bear Scouts
The Big Honey Hunt
The Bears' New Baby
The Bears' Christmas
The Bike Lesson
The Bear Detectives
He Bear, She Bear
The Bears' Almanac

I agree that the voices and music are not the best but the kids still like to listen to it in the car.

This is a great CD with some of the Berenstain Bear's oldest and most classic stories. Just beware that this is only the CD....no books are included!

The background music is an annoying tanbourine and flute that never changes and becomes way too loud in between narrations. The voices are too deep and soft (his) and too grating and plastic (hers) - you certainly cannot picture the caracters from listening to them.

The stories certainly are great but the narration is a great disappointment.

These Berenstain Bears CDs are a real favorite of the grandkids. They ask for it in the car and for bedtime while they are falling asleep. They teach a lesson in an entertaining way. It was well worth it!

I like that there are quite a few stories in this set. The voices of the narrators left a little to be desired - according to my 6 and 2 year old. They wanted the same voices as are on the videos/cartoons. My 2 year old listened longer than my 6 year old. I do take it in the car, and they listen to it for about 2 stories, and are ready for something else. Overall, an ok purchase.

My son loved for us to read these books to him but he really love it when the Berenstains' themselves read the stories to him. Great purchase!

My boys love the Berenstain bears. My oldest just gave the youngest his stash of books since he's 11 now but my 6 year old is prime for these wonderful stories which stress good morals, ethics and old-fashioned family values.

My 6 year old listens to these stories nightly and they have really helped him comprehend quite a few issues that confront young children, such as being greedy at Xmas and sleeping in the dark.

We love the Berenstain bears and highly recommend this cd as a very enjoyable time for all ages.
