The paint in the smiley face can come off in food. My daughter had the small eye dots in her food after one use. As other reviewers noted, this product is not durable and may be dangerous if the paint is toxic. I will be looking to get my money back. If I could give it no stars I would.

I was very excited about this set but am very disappointed. The smiley on the handle is made of painted plastic pieces that are inlaid into the handle. After one use, the plastic pieces came out. The rest of the set is nice and made of a nice, heavy stainless steel. They should have just simply made the set without the plastic pieces inlaid. Furthermore, I've emailed BergHOFF three times in the past month and haven't received any response. It is now more than 30 days so I cannot return the set to Amazon. I do not recommend this product and will not purchase anything else made by BergHoff.

I know others have rated this set very highly - due to this, I purchased several sets to have, since each set only contains one of each item, and I have three children. I washed them all by hand, and almost half the enamel from the "smiley face" popped out. One week later, all 5 sets have no faces with color. Pretty disappointed for the amount I spent and the lack of durability. They are obviously still useful, but the children were sad to see the faces disappear so quickly.
I hope others had better luck, and perhaps I just received a bad lot or something.
