Pick your scent from a local store (don't be confused by misleading reviews),
By Thomas S. (The Real LA, on the South Coast) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Lampe Berger 500ml/16.9-Fluid Ounces, Winterwood Parfum De Maison (Kitchen)
First, if you see a review, make sure its a review of the scent in question... Amazon tends to lump the Lampe Berger scent reviews into one group - so for the review of winterwood, I'm seeing a review of a different scent mixed in. So double check in the review title which scent the review is about.
Second, if you don't know the scents, find a store you can visit that has the scents for sale, because they should have a collection of samplers you can sniff to learn what each scent smells like. Note: these devices do NOT burn oil, but an alcohol based perfume. If you put oil in your lampe berger, you will ruin it. The review of Winterwood: its very subtle and natural smelling. Well suited for a longer burn time in the lamp without overpowering the room. I'm not a fan of strong or sweet scents, so this, along with the New Orleans scents really work for me. If I need to have a quick effect, the Teak is a great option as well. Review of Teak: strong scent but definitely a teak smell. More suited to those that want stronger smells and for helping a particularly stinky situation. Review of New Orleans: the name is right. Having lived in southern Louisiana for almost 20 years, when I first smelled this, I immediately thought back to the scent of the inside of the old 1800's era wooden houses of the region.

uncommon scents,

This review is from: Lampe Berger 500ml/16.9-Fluid Ounces, Borneo Teak Wood Parfum De Maison (Kitchen)
The subtle clean scents that I have used from Parfum de Maison (Borneo Teak wood, Ocean Mist) have been delightful and help to create a "Spa like" ambiance. The diffusing bottles are a bit pricy but they are decorative and have a unique charm. I avoid the Glade / Renuzit Isle in the supermarket, so if you like those strong artificial scents don't bother spending the extra money on this.

Very good scent (Ocean Breeze), but strong. I may look into finding a way to thin this down. I would expect this of any of the Lampe Berger fragrances though, they are made to be extra fragrant!

Neutral is not unscented,

This review is from: Lampe Berger 500ml/16.9-Fluid Ounces, So Neutral Parfum De Maison (Kitchen)
I was looking for an air freshener without a strong scent and thought Neutral would be tolerable. It's not at all unscented but has a strong fragrance. I can't tolerate it. I guess since they couldn't come up with a name they called it neutral but don't be fooled, it is a strong scent.

This review is from: Lampe Berger 500ml/16.9-Fluid Ounces, Summer Rain Parfum De Maison (Kitchen)
Summer Rain is perfect if you love fresh, clean scents. Mine goes a long way because I cut it by half with 91% isopropyl alcohol that I can buy for a few bucks at Target. That's basically what Lampe Berger's "Neutral" is anyway. I have not tried to burn this scent without cutting it but I have a feeling it may be overpowering. I will continue with this fragrance because I love it and it's one of the few my husband likes.

This review is from: Lampe Berger 500ml/16.9-Fluid Ounces, Crème Brulee Parfum De Maison (Kitchen)
I love the lamp, but the creme brûlée is a little overpowering. I haven't really found any scents I love though. The lamp works really well on household odors like pets and cooking fish so I will continue to work on finding a scent I like! I have also used blackberry...I think and didn't like it either...it was way better than creme brûlée and a little more subtle.

This review is from: Lampe Berger 500ml/16.9-Fluid Ounces, Mystery Patchouli Parfum De Maison (Kitchen)
After getting a Lampe Berger oil burner for Christmas I purchased some oil to burn in it, and since I have always been fond of Patchouli, that was the fragrance that I ordered. When it arrived it had been poorly packaged for shipping and some of it had leaked all over everything else in the box. One thing that I noticed was that everything in the box didn't smell like Patchouli.
After cleaning up everything I poured the oil into the lamp and lit it - NO fragrance AT ALL! NONE! This was particularly disappointing considering the price of Lampe Berger oil. I would say that the name "Mystery Patchouli" is a good name because it sure is a mystery what happened to the Patchouli fragrance. I have had better luck with a "knock-off" brand of scented oil - and it's cheaper, too!! |
