Know the difference between Raw or not,

All of the people complaining about "stale" nuts were expecting nuts that were processed and cooked. Raw nuts are different from cooked nuts!

Ordered these on 6/9/09 and received them today, 6/12/09. They are so stale they actually BOUNCE on the kitchen counter and I can bend them almost in half. The 'use by' date on the package is a year from now, May 2010. By then, they'll be compost! Steer clear of these. Horrid product. I can't be bothered wasting my time and money returning them, so I'm pulverizing them with the rolling pin and giving them to the dogs with their supper! :(
Updated 6/21/09-Amazon's Customer Service acknowledged my e-mail complaint promptly and just as quickly credited my account. Hats off to Amazon for great customer service. (I never did give these to my dogs...)

Diamond Nuts are the best brand of Almonds and Walnuts!,
This review is from: Bergin Nut Company Almonds Whole Raw, 16-Ounce Bags (Pack of 2) (Grocery)
Be aware of the different origins of almonds and walnuts, the crops from California being the most dependable. Also, Almonds and Walnuts are harvested in the Fall, Walnuts in October, and Almonds earlier. Nuts are fragile and go rancid quickly, so buy directly from the grower, or look for vacuum sealed containers - the bags just are not good protection. (Most grocery store nuts are at least slightly rancid, and some people think THAT is what nuts taste like, so they "don't like nuts" or "nuts upset their stomach." Then freeze fresh nuts, taking them out as you need them. Frozen nuts will taste as fresh as the day you bought them, even a year, or more, later. California growers, and [...] sell fresh nuts directly to consumers. Two really good growers are Haag and Winter Creek Rabch. You can get on their mailing list and they will contact you when the "new crop" nuts are harvested. Once you taste what a really FRESH walnut or almond tastes like, you will order from them every year! English Walnuts at haag farms or Hartley Walnuts at winter creek ranch. For fresh almonds, contact the Diamond Store at diamond nuts. The prices and shipping are very reasonable, but most importantly, you get really FRESH nuts.

These nuts were a disappointment. Not near as good as the reviews that I had read. The nuts taste stale to me and were not very tasty. I normally purchase my nuts from another source and I have found them to be fresher and with more flavor.

Very Disappointed. Old, stale, soft and bitter. I bought for holiday cooking but would not serve to anyone in any form. Based on other reviews, it sound like quality control needs to be evaluated as product is not consistant. Not worth returning. I had better luck with the Azar almonds on Amazon and a better price.

The almonds I received from the Bergin Nut Company were stale. I ate some and ended up throwing the remainder and the second bag in the trash. Shop elsewhere...they were a waste of money.
