Way better than using needle nose pliers!

Easy to use and doesn't take long to remove a hook from a fish, even if it swallowed your hook deep.

All the pieces seem well made, of good materials, and don't feel flimsy.

Tool appears well made and functional. My only suggestion is pay close attention to the size -- it is much bigger than I realized when I purchased. (If they include size information I missed it -- is certainly needed). Too big for panfish (which was what I intended to use it for). However I am keeping it anyway -- will probably come in very handy when I go fishing for catfish and bass next Spring.

but... this is one of the most used tools around the house and while working on my car. I just used it tonight to get a screw that my MIL dropped down her shower drain while cleaning out the trap. It's great for reaching inside a motor when you can't reach something with your fingers. I know there are tools for that, but the best part about this tool is the strength of grip. It seems to transfer ALL my grip into the jaws themselves and holds things FIRMLY where I need them. I literally think I could crush my finger with this if I tried. I'm trying to think of something realistic... I bet it could easily shatter a candy cane. Whatever, the point is, it's sturdy as all heck and I'm ordering another for my MIL. There aren't a ton of moving parts or cables to break, and it's cheap, and it works. Just get it. You'll be like... "dang, this could totally crush a candy cane!"

I used to have a hook remover similar to this some years back, but the past few years, had just been using needle-nose pliers. I catch a lot of bluegill and even the big 9-11" ones can be problematic to get hooks out of. Even if the pliers can get down there, they block any sight you have.

I am very glad I picked this hook remover up. It makes removing hooks a breeze and the fish are happy too because they are back in the water alive and well. Even if you don't get this specific hook remover, consider always having one on hand to get a hook out to prevent unnecessary death of fish that swallow the hook.

Regarding the hook extractor itself, it has been working well so far. All the pieces seem well made, of good materials, and don't feel flimsy. Great product in my opinion and one that I shouldn't have waited so long to get.

Easy to use and doesn't take long to remove a hook from a fish, even if it swallowed your hook deep. You have very good control over sharp hooks. Just insert the jaws around the hook and squeeze the grips together and manuver the hook out. I'm giving this only 4 stars because I'm not sure how great the stainless steel will hold up. I do realize stainless is just that: stain-less and not stain-proof, but any tool around water has to stand up to rust.

This product is very good for taking hooks out of fish that might try to bite you. It will also do less hard to the fish and survival rate is greater.
The price is right and the delivery was on time.

I always thought these tools were something I did not need since I had pliers to remove hooks. Then I used one on a friend's boat. For removing hooks this works better than pliers - much better - especially if the fish is hooked deep. This tool is the right size for the saltwater fish I catch. This will probably save me a lot of hooks - and save many released fish too. And it's stainless!

Nice for pulling the plugs out of the big bad ones. I like the stainless steel build & the strap, makes it easier to hold on to.
