5.0 out of 5 stars Best line for spinning reels
I've been spin fishing for the last 38 years and I've tried a lot of different types and brands of fishing lines. Braid, Mono, and Fluro. For my purposes, monofilament is my line of choice for a spinning reel. This is one of those exceptions to the rule "you get what you pay for". 5.0 out of 5 stars Best line for spinning reels, March 2, 2011

I've been spin fishing for the last 38 years and I've tried a lot of different types and brands of fishing lines. Braid, Mono, and Fluro. For my purposes, monofilament is my line of choice for a spinning reel. This is one of those exceptions to the rule "you get what you pay for". Between the major brands of mono lines, I've found Trilene XL to be that line. I have limited line twists and few birds nests since I've stuck to Trilene XL. I have always thought the "XL" stands for extra limp because the line has little memory and resists that annoying line curl found in other lines. Between the Stren and Trilene, the Trilene wins hands down for loading on my spinning reels. This is my first fishing product review and I hope it helps.

I have used his Berkley Trilene XL Smooth Casting Monofilament Line (8-Pound,Low-Vis Green)for many years now. I catch a LOT of fish, snag logs, hook heavy weeds, pull in teethy northern pike and this line just doesn't fail me. This 8lb line is good for sunfish, crappies, walleye, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass and big northern pike. I have used this line for about 15 years now. I hope they keep making it. The green tint is almost invisible in the water.

I have used Trilene for more than forty years but from time-to-time, I try other lines because of grandiose claims. I always return to Trilene (Big Game, XL or XT), it is the best line around. I am now a fan of Trilene 100% fluorocarbon.

I like this 10lb line. It is reasonably priced. It goes on easily. It ties easily. It casts and retrieves smoothly. It is good fishing line for the price. I'm going fishing.

5.0 out of 5 stars price, February 4, 2011
Your prices on this product are way out of line. It can be purchased anywher much cheaper.

The line itself is very good. Never had a problem with it.

i have found that this line is just as good as stren or any other filament line. it cast very smoothly, if stretched properly after refilling your spool, you will very few to no tangles. very good line for the cost.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Enough :), November 19, 2010
I've been using this line since I can remember, it has good knot strength. It is relatively limp, strong, and has low memory. It is a great line to match light to medium spinning reels. The problem I have with it is after a few trips, the line discolors from clear to a milky white. This also happens in crystal clear mountain streams. After it turns white, the fish bites turn off in super clear water. To be fair, most clear mono turns a milky white also but usually not as fast. However for the cheap price, Re-spooling after 5-10 trips or so is cost effective compared to fluorocarbons and super lines topped with fluorocarbon leaders. Especially if you bought a massive spool like I did. The other gripe I have with this line is the stretch It has. It isn't too much, but its close.

Pretty good fishing line...not as good as the "best" brand (if you fish much you know what I am referring to), but is cheaper and still works well.

5.0 out of 5 stars All Tied Up, November 29, 2011

Haven't fished in many a year, now I'm prepared for any opportunity, got my fishing line with more line than I will use for many a year. The fishing line is a quality product that will serve me for years to come on the lakes and rivers I visit in my retirement.
