So you think ol' Hector was a second-rate composer? Try these three operas, brilliantly performed by great artists such as Vickers, Veasy and Gedda. And Sir Colin Davis is a very sympathetic(and under-rated) conductor. I have to say, Les Troyens is simply spectacular. Great singing, choruses and orchestral playing. Berlioz was really about two generations ahead of his time in his ideas and execution, not to mention his brilliant orchestrations(and this from someone who played guitar and a little flute!).

I give this set FIVE stars for content and overall performance. Every opera lover owes it to themselves to hear these wonderful operas. But- this price is out of line. Unless you have money to burn or are trying single-handedly to stimulate the economy, try finding it abroad(Amazon UK) or used as $170 is just tremendous, and not in a good way.
