This recording enjoys an almost total agreement as the absolute reference. I agree. Sir Colin is
the commander conductor in Berlioz, ha has in account three great recordings of the Fantastique, but
this Concertgebouw version is the best of all. It fills all things we want in a great performance:
poetry, imagination, beatifulness, care in detail, drama, ellegant phrasing and brilliant sound.
After hearing this Fantastique, you could fell no need to have another competitor in your collection.
This is the one to get, so buy it with confidence.

I think I stumbled upon the explanation for the confusion exhibited here in the reviews by Unrath and Snyder. It appears that Amazon has mixed the reviews for Thomas Beecham's version of Symphonie Fantastique with those of Andreas Sporri and the Tbilisi Symphony Orchestra. The latter can be found on Emusic at:

[...]

The album graphics and track timings are virtually identical with this one, and it is a much more modern sounding but lame plodding tepid performance. So if you download this one, you're probably getting Sporri's version. Too bad.

The real Beecham, labeled as such, is at:

I have had this CD for over 20 years, and have played it often (I keep track of when I play my recordings, and give them ratings on my own system.) Recently, I bought the recording of with Pierre Boulez and The Cleveland Orchestra, my favorite in all the world. So, I have compared the two recordings, and truly find nothing lacking in this one. It is well done, and a clean, crisp recording. So, if you want a good buy on a fine performance, this one fits the bill. The liner notes are decent in explanation of the material also.

Even though I bought a new CD of another performance, I will keep this one and enjoy it often.

I have a vague, but fond, memory of the 1959 Beecham recording of the "Symphonie fantastique," and I decided to download this inexpensive version of it to have it for keeps. But, I hesitate to disappoint: this is NOT the recording in question.

For one thing, it is an excellent recording, made in a large hall with a pleasant acoustic, a recording much more of the 21st century sonically. I have several other EMI recordings of the late-50s era, and I know they didn't sound this good, nor can our present audio techniques make them sound this good. It's also a good performance, by the way (if you don't care that you don't know who is performing, you'll get your money's worth). But, being anal about these things, I'm dying to know who's performing, who's conducting, and why did the Beecham/French National Radio Orchestra get the credit?

To be fair, nowhere on the jacket is the name of the performers listed; for all I can tell, they could be anyone. I think it's probably an American orchestra, judging from the woodwind sound, but I'm not sure. Anybody know?
