The Berlitz Polish Phrase Book gives the reader what he/she needs. In a variety of situations, Berlitz provides phrases and vocabulary to help tourists survive and thrive in Poland. For those going for an extended stay these phrases and vocabulary provide a great starting point for beginning to master the language. Also provides tips on verb conjugation and other grammar problems. Some sections can even be read for humor. The guide is so thorough you will never need to use many of the phrases involving dating or customs confrontations. However it is good to have information about how to summon an ambulance or the police in an emergency. Whole-heartedly recommended.

I typically don't write reviews for books. However, I'm making the exception with this one. I am from the US and am dating a guy from Poland. We will be leaving in a few weeks to visit his family in Poland. They don't speak English, and I don't speak Polish. So as a last ditch effort to bridge the conversation gap, I ordered this book to keep in my purse...I figure that if all else fails, I can just point to what I'm trying to say in the book. However, now that I have this book, I actually think I might have a fighting chance at actually carrying on a conversation, or at least forming sentences. The phonetic pronunciations are EXCELLENT! However, it does help that my boyfriend speaks Polish so he can pronounce any words that I get hung up on. If you are able to figure out the pronunciations, they are really dead on! I highly recommend this book. I'm sure I'll be using it for years to come because it is amazing how much information Berlitz crammed in that one little book! Very impressive!!

This book covers a lot in a simple format. Easy to use. I purchased several dictionaries, but this book is my bible. The best that I have come across.

What a find!! Anyone travelling to Poland will find this
phrase book really handy! Wish I had it with me the last
five times that I visited Poland. It covers everything
that you will need to know about food, restaurant odering,
sightseeing, travel, doctors, etc. etc. You'll never leave
home without it again!!!!

This is definitely a good phrase book, the pronunciation guide words are a big help. Depending on how far you plan on going with your polish studies, makes a big deal when it comes to purchasing this product. If you are looking to pick up on a few important phrases or common words, this book will serve its purpose. If you looking to learn a bit more than basic communication. I still recommend this book in addition to some other Polish self-learning courses, preferable an audio or CD-ROM tutorial. Like Eurotalk or Rosetta Language Online. This book will help you commit to memory some of the things these programs teach you, while your at the office or out and about, and need a convenient reference to check your memory against. Overall this is a good product.

I read other reviews praising this book. I have Polish acquaintances in the city who are pleased when someone makes an effor to learn Polish to speak with them. The U.S. and English language are not the center of the universe. I was greatly disappointed with the pronounciation key and guide used in this book. I could spend hours on a few pages trying to figure out the guide to learn the pronounciation. It was a waste of time, too confusing, to difficult to figure out. Get a book with a CD and native speakers helping with the pronounciation; this book is a waste of time and money.

I thought this would be more useful phrases for everyday Polish, not for travel to Poland. It's a very good travel book. Sections broken down well so you can easily find the right phrases, but this is more for travel.

A terrific little book of easy to learn Polish phrases, a very nice thing to have while travelling in the beautiful country of Poland.
