Book is better than the CD
The phrasebook was extremely helpful to carry around on my recent Portugal trip! The CD, however, just moves very fast from basic to difficult. I repeated the first 5 minutes over and over as a result. Still, a worthwhile investment. Marlena

Major disappointment
I had expected a CD produced by Berlitz to employ sound teaching methods. Instead, there is as much English spoken on the CD as there is Portuguese. The Portuguese words and phrases are spoken once, so you have to keep "rewinding" if you want to actually learn anything. Unfortunately, that means you also have to keep hearing the same annoying English speaker telling...

I had expected a CD produced by Berlitz to employ sound teaching methods. Instead, there is as much English spoken on the CD as there is Portuguese. The Portuguese words and phrases are spoken once, so you have to keep "rewinding" if you want to actually learn anything. Unfortunately, that means you also have to keep hearing the same annoying English speaker telling you the obvious (such as stating that you can listen to the CD as many times as you'd like. )
I would never purchase another product from Berlitz. I found the Pimsleur method to be far superior.

A step above the Dover say it series, However this phrase book is not Brazil friendly especially the audio material, I think its odd that Berlitz would not have a Brazilian Portuguese phrase book. Like it does with the Latin american Spanish series. I recommend the Lonely Planet phrase book for Brazilian Portuguese.
