This cd is very light-hearted in its approach to spoken Italian. Going through basic greetings, questions and answers, there are parts set to music. To simplify following along, you need only go to the Berlitz website indicated on the cd cover to print out the text of the cd to follow along more easily.

If you transfer the information on to your i-pod and listen to the audio files on your daily commute, the very cheesy songs and basic vocabulary are a good first step for someone looking to learn the basics. You won't be able to string together complex sentences but it may just give you the confidence you need to take further classes or get the advanced learning cd's.

I have tried so many times to learn Italian and it just doesn't seem to stick; I bought this cd prior to going to Italy for vacation. I learned and retained more via through song then through the other methods, general repetition. We all remember words to our favorite songs, it is the same theory. It helped me with directions when traveling and I was able to communicate to taxi drivers , some who did not speak any english. I played this in the car several weeks before my trip and it was great. For the cost and value of what you take with you, well worth this nominal price. You will be singing your way ...........; as a joke with my daughter and friend I would start singing the songs in Italy and before long , they were singing italian as well. Great concept, it works, don't be discouraged, it isn't Mozart , it is basic italian with catchy tunes to learn by no matter how ridiculous , you remember the words and that is what is important isn't it?

This product was not quite what I thought it was going to be. It was more boasic than I wanted and not very informational for me. I had thought it would be a fun CD to listen to in the car but it wasn't. I would not recommend this to anyone who has had 2 or more semesters of Italian classes. It basically was on the cheesy side.
