My sister in law is going to Switzerland for Xmas and she will be staying with locals who speak fluent German. She speaks only English but after spending some time with this disk, she is able to at least count, point and ask for some bare essentials if it becomes necessary. The disk is not an in depth language tutor, however, it will give you enough confidence to make an effort (which so few of us Americans are willing to do when we travel abroad) to give a few German words a try. Worth the price.
