I spent eleven weeks studying spanish in Guatemala and brought these cards along. I was very happy that I did, because both finding vocabulary and then making the actual flashcards is very inconvenient. These flashcards are the perfect size, durable and relevant (most of the words anyway). I highly recommend this product and hope that they make 1000 more vocabulary flashcards, because I've heard it said that if you know 3000 words in any language, you can understand 99.5% of what is being said!

I am a beginner in Spanish, but have a solid background in Latin with some Italian and French. From that perspective, I rate the selection on the cards as very good.

I'm through more than half of them now, after mixing them. I am sorting out the ones that I consider useless and the ones that are obvious, because they are shared by most Western European languages. Both piles are still very small. The choice of words focuses on daily use and they even add some of the basic phrases.

Some synonyms are not distinguished in the translation, so it's better to always keep all translations in mind.

The print quality is good and the cards on about the same paper as business cards. Thus, they are easy to handle, and thin enough to carry a bunch of them around for practicing.

I'm the kind of person who benefits from rote memorization. Sure I use mnemonic tools and all that stuff, but that just happens naturally in the process of rote memorization (for me at least). Cards are working good for me. I've had Spanish in high school, so I'm not a total beginner. What I did was to first shuffle the cards (they came in alphabetical order) then I made two stacks for obvious words I remembered like "la mesa", "seis" and "tener" and then another stack for words I didn't know. I would say I at least 200 of the words were obvious to me. That gives me a lot of material to work with.

I do wish there were more cards because a lot of material isn't covered. I didn't see words like "hammer" or "helicopter." If berlitz could introduce an intermediate and advanced set of cards, that would be nice.

This card set is perfect for the beginner and a good refresher for the intermediate Spanish speaker. Words included on the card are definitely current and relevant. You'll find translations for words like "email," and "internet café," just to name a few.

The cards themselves are smaller than what I would've preferred, but they are perfectly sized for travel. The overall size is about the same size as a typical business card.

This set is great. My only recommendation to Berlitz is to come out with intermediate cards and possibly even additional sets of beginner cards to help vary your vocabulary.

I find vocabulary cards extremely useful when studying a language. This set seems to have been designed with a specific Berlitz course in mind--not surprising really--but I am a little frustrated by the number of
words I come upon in the book I am using that are not in this set. It is possible that I messed things up when I first opened the box but they do not all seem to be in alphabetical order either and sometimes specific words are difficult to find. Of course no set of cards would include everything. This one has, in addition to single vocabulary words, useful phrases as well. On the whole, I am pleased with my purchase and use it extensively.

As soon as I received these cards I sorted them into categories so I could learn bits at a time. They are clear and curable and easy to handle. They are great.

`Berlitz Spanish Vocabulary' is a very simple, yet effective study aid. In a sturdy cardboard box you get 1000 cards with a Spanish word on one side and the English translation on the other. You can then work through the box and learn these words and test yourself periodically to refresh your knowledge and retention. Some small niggles are that I wish the box had room for you to pick out the cards easily, the box is so densely packed with the cards that it isn't the most accessible package. The spellings are in American English, which I hate!!! Also it would be useful if the cards were arranged by topic (rather than alphabetically, based on the Spanish translation) so that you can work through topic sections at a time. Finally it would be good if they provided a thick card marker that popped up slightly higher than the vocab cards so you know where you've reached in your studies. These are minor points that would improve an already good package. This would be good for classes, pair or small group study and is just as effective when you want to study alone as well. A worthy addition to your Spanish studies and the accompanying box of grammar cards from Berlitz are also worth considering.

I purchased this product so I could start learning spanish. I gave up on learning it but at no fault of these cards, they were great cards that served their purpose. If you study consistently you will increase your spanish vocabulary with these cards.

As a beginner I need to learn, or be reminded of the proper pronunciation for each new word. No pronunciation help is provided; each card gives an english word on one side and the spanish word on the other, however, there is no pronuciaiton help provided on the cards. Regardless, the cards are still useful.
