Very good helmet,

A couple weeks later, I'm pretty happy with this helmet. A few small complaints, but overall pretty well satisfied.
Pros: - Very comfortable. I really appreciate the notches cut above the ears allowing for sunglasses; it's the only helmet I've ever had that is comfortable for wearing glasses with thick stems UNDER the straps. - Looks good. The visor really gives a "lowered" appearance to the helmet and really makes the helmet look smaller. It's an optical illusion, but a good one. - I was disappointed to see that the winter liner didn't detach from the visor separately, so your choices are visor with winter liner or no visor at all. I emailed the company to see if I could buy one separately and they offered to send me the summer visor free of charge. It would have been better if they had just included both in the box, but I can't complain about the awesome customer care! - Durable finish. I was concerned the light-ish matte finish (brown) wouldn't hold up to scratches and dings, but I've dropped the helmet twice from about 2.5ft onto asphalt twice now and both scratches came off with a little rubbing. - The ballcap-style visor really does do more than a standard helmet's visor. It's not very long, but it sits a lot lower than on a regular helmet and is therefore more effective. - Well ventilated. It looks like it should cook your brain, but it only runs a little hotter than the helmet I wear while using my road bike. Probably wouldn't do a century with it, but should be fine on all but the hottest commutes. Cons: - Probably would have been better if the summer liner was included. - Slightly worried about the durability of the snaps used to hold the liner in. Will probably change the liner a few times a year and one of them is already starting to lose its grip. I'm afraid I'll have to rely on epoxy and velcro after too long.

Bern Brentwood w/ Visor Knit Helmet Brown, S Amazon's partner Co. was prompt and professional. I had to return the item because it was the wrong size.(my error) No fuss well done. Ordered another from Amazon prompt professional. No fuss well done. I bought this helmet because it is the only helmet covering the upper part of the brain stem and if you are injured there you are reduced to the functional level of an alligator. |
