Light and durable.

One of the snaps doesn't work for using the winter lining...so I had to add some of the 3M velcro to make it work.

These buttons need to snap into button holes drilled directly on the plastic helmet.

This product appears to be good quality, until you try to change the attachment. It comes with two attachments, one for snow sport and one for biking. The snow sport attachment is fuzzy and warm, covers the entire ear. The biking attachment is simply soft padding between the head and the helmet.

The attachments are designed to snap onto the helmet via four snap buttons. These buttons need to snap into button holes drilled directly on the plastic helmet. The holes on the helmet seem to have irregular sizes. This means some of the buttons will fit into the holes too loosely and some of them are too tight. The holes that originally fit well turned loose after a few snapping action. I have recently purchased and returned two of these helmets that have exactly the same problem, which leads me to believe that the entire batch of helmets must have similar problems. Plus one of the snap button fell off from the snow attachment altogether when it was unsnapped from a very tight hole. They really should have grommets mounted on the plastic helmet for the buttons to snap into.

All in all, not usable. I gave it two star because besides the snap button issues, rest of the helmet appears to be good quality. My kid really like the style. If you can use the thing without ever having to change the attachment, it could be a good purchase. But then maybe you don't need to buy a multisport helmet in that case.

In my opinion, the majority of the child helmets on the market are either unreasonably expensive or they are in the $20 range and are annoyingly non-adjustable. Since a helmet is SAFETY gear having something adjustable and FIT just right was really important to me, as is the material, durability, and price point. I ordered this helmet for my 4 year old and was quite happy with this purchase. Although it is not the most fashionable or adorable helmet available, I trust the BERN brand as I own one of their adult helmets- they are well known for all season sport helmets and their helmets are made well.

I was absolutely fine with buying this $21 helmet even if I was trading off some of the cuter designs from other brands that cost onwards of $60+. I find that it isn't worth spending a whole lot on things like this when children outgrow them so quickly. The helmet does it's job and my daughter actually quite likes the design (off-white with pink metallic flowers). It even came with a cozy (and removeable) insert for snowboarding. We only bike so we took it out but I think having that option is kind of nice.

I would recommend this product to friends for sure.

My daughter got the white, purple and pink helmet for her 4th birthday. It fit perfectly on her (she is average height and has an average size head). She loved the purple racing stripe and was very excited to ride her new bike with this fashionable helmet.

After trying several types of helmets for my girls, for use while biking, I decided to spend the money for the bern ninas. Overall they offer a better fit and a sun visor built in. The company also sells an overpriced winter insert that snaps in if you plan to bike in wintertime. 5 stars for fit/quality but 3 stars for price. overall 4 stars.

That says a lot. It is still a little big for her head but she wears it even while playing indoors and seems pretty comfortable. It is a safe way to grow the habit on her.
