The dangerous Irish humor of GBS,
By
This review is from: Bernard Shaw Complete Plays with Prefaces (Volume 1,2,3,4,5,6) (Hardcover)
I wish girls were forced to read GBS to counteract the influence of Jane Austen.
This is the anti-Victorian author by excellence. You can oppose Emma to Hypatia (in Misalliance) who asks her father to buy her an aristocratic husband by saying: "Papa: buy the brute for me". GBS provides healthy and roborative comments on Victorian decadence.
