I purchase both the 7 and 10 piece set of Tradition and use Berndes non-stick all the time and it is the best & most durable nonstick I have ever used. I have used non-stick by Calphalon, all Clad, Circulon, ScanPan, + others but none is as good as Berndes. It is NO STICK like no other brand around.

I purchased a couple Berndes pans around 10 years ago at Marshalls and they're still going strong. I always grab for these over any of my others (Le Creuset/Cuisinart. I agree with other reviewers in that I've NEVER had anything stick ... and I make slow cooked steel cut oats every week. They also look as good as they did when I purchased them (I bought the kind with the two curved side handles as appossed to the wood handles). There really are no down sides to them other than the expense ... but they're definately worth it, and a good investment.

Update: 08/09 ... still my favorite pans; I purchased a full set for my summer rental cottage last year and they are holding up great. Good looking, easy to clean, and nothing ever sticks to the skillets.

Simply buy one piece of Berndes such as a small skillet, wash & dry it, then heat it to medium heat without oil and drop in a fresh egg. NO STICK. Nothing, no matter the cost, will pass this test as beautifully as Berndes. Steel cut oats are always a cleaning/scrubbing challenge in Creuset or AllClad but rinse out of these pans with almost no effort.

This cookware is without peer and is a joy to use.

I have been using Berndes cookware since the day I bought my first piece at a sale my local hardware store was having. They had one of the traditions 9 1/2 fry pan with lid for practically nothing. I took it home and was blown away by the quality and durability of this little pan. I then looked on the web and discovered they were of reasonably high value. I ordered a few more pieces from Amazon and eventually threw out all of my Calphalon and other cookware. I have my family and friends in the process of converting to Berndes also (one skillet as a Christmas gift is all it takes).
You simply are not going to find better cookware in this price range.
Don't waste money on Calphalon, W.Puck, Pampered Chef, or any other cookware in the High-end consumer range. Just buy Berndes and be happy.

One piece was damaged during shipping, and Amazaon provided fast and fabulous coustomer service. This is my second set of Berndes. For me, 10-quart stockpot in this set is too big for 2 to 3 people's family, and the 7-quart that I'bought earlier was better. 2-1/2-quart sauté pan in this set is too small for me to cook stir fried veggie for 2 people. I wish they had balanced those two off. Overall, Berndes Tradition 10-piece are good products.

This a replacement set after 34 years of marriage. It heats well and evenly. Very well put together!

I bought this set to replace a similar set that is over 15 years old and was abused by a former paramour. While they cook the same as the previous set, that is to say wonderfully, the new style handles are a serious shortcoming.
The old handles were made out of rose wood and looked great and were well tapered and smooth. These new ones are a lighter wood which hurts the asthetics. In addition, they are rough to the touch and feel as if you might get a splinter from them. The finish, varnish or polyurethane seems to be missing in a few spots, and the grain of the wood is palpable.
This set was about $250 for the 10 piece set and is a real bargain as the origional was over $300 16 years ago.

If you are considering these, buy them and you should love the way they cook.

Love these. Heavy and solid. they haven't warped and I doubt they will. I just love them! easy clean up too. I got my set thru the amazon warehouse..for a steal! one lid knob was damaged,,{amazon customer service was QUICK and resolved the problem by offering a % of credit for the damages},,however I think that may have been why they were returned. The lids have the knobs inverted so the lids nest inside of one another in shipping. You just UN-screw the knob...and put it on the outside of the lid. I think the previous owner of this set screwed the knob too tight and broke the plastic knob washer/collar. But Still a Great set that I'm thrilled to own!

Had this set for 3 years now they are holding up very well still look like new. They heat quickly and cool quickly. Tough as you could ever ask for. They only thing I didn't like was the plastic handles on the glass lids are cheap. I bought this set on amazon and received them with just one handle broken. It was easy to fix so I didn't even try asking for a new handle. I love these so much I have bought two sets. My ex-wife kept the first set. I loved them so much I couldn't do without them. And with the second set everything was fine no broken handles.

I've been using Berndes Tradition cookware for nearly 20 years and love it. Just purchased a second set. The only reason I purchased another full set is because I've worn the frying pans out, and the price on a 10 piece set is an incredible bargain compared to buying the pieces individually. This set offers very versatile and useful size pots and pans. It may not be obvious in the description, but the set actually includes 3 frying pans, but one is deep and comes with a lid, which I find very useful. Cleaning this cookware is very easy, and it heats the food evenly. I find Berndes to be very easy to cook with. The weight of the pans and wooden handles are very comfortable to handle. Special care does have to be taken when using this cookware, NO Metal spatula, spoon or forks to turn or stir food in order to prevent scratching of the finish. I'm always careful, unfortunately the young adults in my household are not. Berndes used to honor a lifetime warranty, but changed to a limited warranty a couple of years ago. I highly recommend this cookware...I figure a new set of frying pans every 7-10 years is still very good.
