Product Description

Product Description

This cast aluminum dutch oven from Berndes is manufactured using vacuum pressure casting that forms a solid cavity for the perfect cooking vessel inside and outside. This vacuum-pressure system of creating cast aluminum cookware is superior to stamped in both shape and thickness. The three-layer nonstick interior and two-layer nonstick exterior surfaces protect food from sticking and burning. The nonstick surface is designed to never chip, crack, blister, bubble, or peel. Ergnomonically designed phenolic handles faciliate safe and easy transportation of the cookware. The SignoCast line is exceptionally easy to clean and facilitates fat-free cooking. The approximately 6 mm thick, perfectly flat base is guaranteed never to warp. In addition, the base has excellent heat conductivity and is perfect for gas, electric, or ceramic stovetops. Also suitable for halogen cooktops. As an added convenience, this cookware is oven-safe to 450 degrees Fahrenheit. Limited lifetime warranty.

Dutch Oven -- 7 Quarts; Cover/Lid -- 11 inches

From the Manufacturer

This 7-quart oven is part of the Berndes SignoCast Classic line of cookware. Berndes SignoCast Classic cookware is manufactured using vacuum-pressure casting. High-grade aluminum alloys are melted and forced into a mold, ensuring the absence of air bubbles and resulting in a thick base, thin sides, no interior rivets, lightweight construction, and a perfectly flat bottom that never warps. The aluminum base delivers excellent heat distribution and is perfect for gas, electric, and ceramic stovetops.

The cookware's interior and exterior nonstick surfaces ensure easy cleanup and the coating is guaranteed to never chip, crack, peel, blister, or come off. The nonstick surface allows the user to cook by adding little or no fat. Berndes does nonstick right--in 1975, DuPont and Berndes were the first companies to launch nonstick cookware in Europe. Users are not recommended to use metal utensils or dishwashers with SignoCast Classic cookware.

The knobs and ergonomically designed handles stay cool on the stovetop and are oven-safe to 450 degrees F.

I have had my Berndes Dutch Oven since 1995 and I wouldn't know what to do without it. I use it for everything, from making Spaghetti Sauce to home-made jam. Never have I burned any types of sauce and cleanup is a cinch. You can't forget that they honor their Lifetime warranty. All you do is send the pot back with a $10 shipping and handling fee and a new one is in the mail.

My parents got one as a Christmas present, and the first time they used it, the lid shattered in the oven afer 20 minutes. Our UK supplier, ICTC, say that Berndes don't insure the lids, only the pan. They also say it would ONLY explode if the screw in the top was overtightened, and went on to imply that this could only have happened after it left the factory. No consideration that it might have been faulty, and basically implying "they're fine, you must have broken it". Poor customer service on a potentially dangerous product.
