Big surprise....,

This review is from: Bernhard Lang: I Hate Mozart [Hybrid SACD] (Audio CD)
Big surprise that Bernhard Lang, who has made a career of making phony and ignorant references to "philosophy" and generally faking out gullible avant-garde wannabes with his self-aggrandizing talk of being "cutting edge", has here decided to "shock" us with an "irreverent" title. Don't be fooled, there is nothing "rebellious" or "new" or even remotely interesting about this dreck. Basically, he randomly pastes together repeating loops of Mozart's music, imagining this to be somehow "deconstructionist". What it is REALLY is simply a third tier, fifth rate hack messing around with Pro Tools, showing that he can use (sort of) the "cut and paste" function. This demonstrates not one iota more skill or intelligence than the random fumbling of a first-time computer user dicking around with audio editing software.
I have tremendous respect for genuinely avant-garde music -- everything from Webern and Boulez to Xenakis and Penderecki to Reich and Glass (the latter pair of whom Bernhard Lang pitifully attempts to copy, while declaring their work obsolete, and his own work "cutting edge"). If you are a fan of "new" music, look elsewhere. Don't waste your money on this monument to masturbatory self-aggrandizement by this idiot parading around as a "composer". I myself am not crazy about Mozart. But I HATE Bernhard Lang. It is perhaps indicative of the cultural decay in contemporary Europe that utter phonies like this can make a living, faking out people with big, meaningless words, irrelevant references to philosophy, and unwarranted declarations of self-importance. It shall be a glorious day indeed when Mr. Lang finally expires and is consigned to the dustbin of history forever.
