This review is from: Bernstein: West Side Story Symphonic Dances; On the Town; Fancy Free; The Age of Anxiety; Candide overture (Audio CD)
If you are a music lover and have never really listened to bernstein other than sitting thru west side story, then i think it would be great to take a second look/listen. he has written many other interesting works, that are worth a second look from the public. We only remember Tony and Maria singing "Tonight", and that does not do him justice. The Symphonic Dances are the music that was the backbone of West Side Story; it is the music you will recognize more or less as the sound track of West Side Story. These are worth listening to on their own, without the dancing. The music from On the Town, and Fancy Free is also here and worth listening too. Try some of these other words of bernstein and appreciate a fine AMerican composer.
