With a 5 foot hose, the torch provides the user with maximum reach to make any job easier. The kit comes with the torch and attached 5 ft hose as well as belt holder for the fuel. The torch features an Instant on/off trigger igniter for simple one-handed operation and a High intensity swirl flame that targets heat output and provides a hotter, more efficient flame. The torch also has an adjustable flame control knob for ease in switching between different applications. The BZ8250 works with both Propane Fuel and Max Power Propylene Gas. Saves time and money when doing a lot of sweating.

The self-lighting trigger mechanism activates with just a squeeze of my hand, and I can adjust the flame by turning the knob that controls the amount of gas released.

This item was a replacement for a defective Mag-Torch MT560C. The Bernzomatic accommodates the large 16.9 oz. MAPP & Propane tanks in a comfortable to wear holster. The holster will adjust to accommodate the standard 14 oz. size tanks. The holster has a convenient tube that will hold the business end of the torch & handle. I have only used it to solder copper pipe up to 2" dia. Here is what I like; highly portable, adjustable flame, instant on & off saves gas, overall a great torch.

I paint with a melted beeswax mixture known as encaustic. After laying down a layer of melted wax, it must be fused with heat from a heated tool, a heat gun or a torch. This Benzomatic self-lighting torch with hose is a wonderful tool to use for fusing. Rather than wearing the heavy-duty cloth holster, I nailed it to the side of my painting table and put the Fat Boy canister into it. I then had the use of the Benzomatic torch and hose without having to bear the weight of the canister, and because the canister was snugly in the holster, there was no danger of tipping it over.

The self-lighting trigger mechanism activates with just a squeeze of my hand, and I can adjust the flame by turning the knob that controls the amount of gas released. Get one of these and make your life a lot more fun!

Let me start by saying I own the TurboTorch PL-DLXPT, Mag-Torch MT560C and a Bernzomatic TS4000 as well as the Bernzomatic BZ8250HT. They all have a purpose. in new construction I love the turbotorch(12' hose). The magtorch was crap unless your doing continuous work and leave it on for extended periods of time.The TS4000 I let the helpers use(cheap to replace). Now to the BZ8250HT, it does feel extremely cheap(plastic) like it will break if accidentally stepped on or dropped. There's no tip to take off and clean out. It excels when taken under a house though. This purpose is why I like it, Its flexible, light and can get dragged through the dirt, which I wouldn't want to do with the $200 turbotorch. The harnesses hot torch tip sleeve is a great idea. The hose however sticks out and gets caught on things when working while in the harness, While the tanks in the harness and set down it does not stand up by itself. The harness works with both tank sizes. Hope this helps!

The first one I ordered ( 1/5/11 ) was defective from the factory ( problem with trigger switch )
Amazon was Great and had a second one shipped to me promptly after notifying them of the defect plus free return shipping for the defective product .
I have had the replacement for about 5 weeks,it arrived (1/14/11 ) I used it on (6 ) six occasions replacing 1/2 coppoer shut offs ( light duty soldering ) for a total of maybe (3) hours of use ....... The "Instant on/off trigger igniter " has just stopped working (2/20/11 ) the product still operates but needs to be ignited. It defeats the purpose of this purchase which was to have an instant igniter.
What a waste of time and money,,,,,,, $56.74
In No way am I making any complaints against Amazon ,,,,,, my complaint is the poor quality of Bernzomatic BZ8250HT Trigger-Start Hose Torch
At one time " Bernzomatic " had a good reputation ,,,,,,,, What happened ?

The long and short is that for ground level work or tight areas, this torch is inconvenient. No problems with stand up project locations, however. My issue is with the holster. Be advised that when the tank is wrapped in the holster, it will NOT stand up on its own when placed on a level surface. This is due to the design of the pencil rod-type loop that the tank base rests on. This is inconvenient because: 1-the instructions clearly state NOT to operate the torch when it is more than 60 degrees from upright. 2-the stainless steel burn tip gets very hot and retains that heat long enough that care must be given when placing it down on certain surfaces, such as vinyl tile. So it is important to always have the holster nearby so the burn tube can be sheathed in its integral "burn tube holder." Yes, the price was right but I now will have to devise my own tank/torch stand for when I use this kit for ground level work.

this torch is fantastic. i really like the on-off instant flame. no more haveing to hold the torch away form the work to get flame away , now just let go of trigger . also, no more flint spark ligters. great for small plumbing jobs . the only drawback was this model had the short chubby mapgas tank holster will only work on that size tank. these tanks are harder to find . home depot has them. they hold more capacity so lasts longer. the holster has a built in torch holder to hold the hot torch so it can cool off, big plus.

PROs:

* Auto Ignite
* Works in tight spaces (small hose-connected head)
* Holster for gas
* Adjustable flame
- Torch head stays cool

CONs

- No replaceable parts (hose, ignitor)
- Trigger Lock can be difficult to release. You must know to push the top half of the trigger, not just any part of the trigger. Careless design. Possibly dangerous.

Nit Picks:

- Owner manual sets a new record for pathetic. Brief. Size 4 font. Really? They couldn't spend 12 cents on a helpful manual?
- No warranty statement included with product. Site says it's 1-year, but no details provided. Shipping not included?
- Blister pack is nasty! (don't slice the hose)
