These clothes can be used as a wick on a feed type alcohol camping stove like those from minibull designs. It can also serve as a fireproof windscreen for that stove, or as a non-burnable ground cloth for setting that stove in the wilderness to avoid fires. It can be used as a pot grabber for a hot pot. It is a miracle cloth, and as such, is quite expensive.

i love this heat cloth. i solder pipes often and it's great when they are close to joists. i just wish it had a few more grommets to be easier to hang..

good size, nice materials. this worked great. at least nothing caught on fire so far...and the mat itself seems very resistant to brief torch exposures.

This brand, I have found, usually survives about 15-20 pipe-sweating jobs, depending on whether or not i'm using propane or MAPP gas. It's definitely worth the price, and lasts longer, in my experience, than the woven style. But maybe there are other brands that make better quality woven styles than the one I tried. The old-timers tell me that nothing works as well as an asbestos shingle, but obviously, these days, we can't recommend that. :(

No more burned studs and drywall. Its very flexible to wrap around things as well. I also use it when I'm soldering up pipes before I put them in the wall. I use it as a mat for soldering, and its great because when I get solder drips it balls up and doesn't even stick to the heat cloth. I'm buying a 2nd!

Great for NOT burning the house down - repair to a copper water supply line (removal of the wall valve) in tight quarters kept the flame from burning the wall. I ordered two.
