First, let me say that I'm probably not using this for the same thing most people do. I use the natural wood charcoal in the grill and use this to get the coals going. It takes about 5 minutes and no problems. My only complaint is the quality of the units. I'm on my second torch head because the first one died on me. It was always tricky to get it to light up with the trigger and now I have to light it with a match and the flame sort of just pours out rather than shooting the flame like it should. So I got another one. The newer one is much better, lighting easily with the trigger and the adjustable flame is fine, but it continues to leak gas for a full minute or so after I shut it off. It eventually burns out and it's really no problem for me, but doesn't seem like it should really work that way. But it's a product that works great for what I need and I'd buy another one in a minute if this one died. If you need dependability and precision, I'd look elsewhere, but for a reasonable price, this meets my needs fine.

Don't waste your time with this torch. I thought I would save a few dollars.. It worked off and on for about a month, then it stopped working all together. I sent it back and ordered a TS4000 Bernzomatic. The last TS4000 I purchased from Amazon is over a year old and still working fine.

I have had a TS3000 for several years, and it has been a good, dependable torch. My old one has a brass tip (as is wrongly claimed in the product description) which seems to stabilize the flame, and makes it more resistant to extinguishing. This version of the torch has no brass tip- just a stainless tube, as is shown in the product photo. As a result, I think the quality of this torch is not as good, but overall is still isn't bad- it still lights easily.

Fine product. It works - allows you to use the torch at any angle without it extinguishing. Installation was a snap. The price is decent too. It is a little tall, and what I received doesn't exactly match the photo shown (the styling is different), but, it works so I am happy.

I do not use it very often, but when I do, one click and it is good to go. It is not cheap; however, if you use matches or a sparker to ignite, this is worth every penny!

I purchased this for use in the kitchen (sous vide cooking, melting cheese, etc.). Unfortunately it didn't perform as expected. For cooking, you often want to be able to point the torch downward onto the food. Bernzomatic's webside says that this torch is supposed to be good for this application. From their FAQ:

"Why will my torch not stay lit when tipped upside down?
When a non regulated brass torch is tipped upside down, the liquid propane in the torch works its way through the torch and blows out the flame. We recommend a pressure regulated torch, such as the TS3000T."

Unfortunately, this torch performs very poorly when you want to point the torch head even slightly downward: the flame will almost always go out. Lots of people were complaining about this on the sous vide cooking forum. I upgraded to the Bernzomatic TS8000 and it works without any problems whatsoever. The TS8000 is a great torch, and it's very solid and feels safer.
