5.0 out of 5 stars As creative as it gets, March 7, 1999

This review is from: The Berry Vest of the Swirling Eddies (Audio CD)
This Swirling Eddies collection proves my point that the most creative material is being done by Christian artists. There isn't one cut that hasn't grown on me, made me think more each time I listened. And I enjoy the music more each time, unlike other alternative music, which often only survives one or two plays before I realize the shock value has worn off. Terry Taylor, formerly of Daniel Amos, has sharpened his razor over the years, and this is the cutting result.

5.0 out of 5 stars An eye opener to The Swriling Eddies, February 18, 1999

This collection sums up the total essesnce of The Eddies. Everything from the waky ("Arthur Fhardy", "Hide The Beer", & "The Unsuccessful Dutch Missionary"), to the serious ("Billy Graham", & "The Twist"). It covers some the best material of their career, and shows that nobody else in the Christian market can quite match them. Also I love the bonus tracks.

You need look no further than the first song to realize Terry Taylor's genius. I mean, a song about holy communion called "Disco Love Grapes"? As the reviewer below notes, The Swirling Eddies and Taylor are not held back by marketers or producers, and what you get is the incomparable humor, wit and insight that Taylor brings to bare on all his projects. "Berry Vest" is a best of record for one of Taylor's projects, The Swirling Eddies, and there's lots more treats in store for you if you check out the work he's done in his other bands, Daniel Amos and Lost Dogs.

5.0 out of 5 stars Swirling is a good word........., March 16, 2000

Terry Taylor is brilliant. He doesn't write music or lyrics like normal people and that's a good thing! This album has some humor and some good hooks but it's basically just a really listenable album. You'll hear some Daniel Amos (his other band) in here but it's lighter hearted. Except for a few cuts like "Golden Girl of the Golden West" which is dark and rocks. Also great are "Pyro Sets a Wildfire" and "Catch that Angel". "Pyro" has that jangly guitar and it's so catchy you'll be scrambling to hit repeat to hear it again and again. With 18 songs and almost 70 minutes it's more than a bargain. Great album from a great band.

5.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't Have Said it Better Myself!!, August 19, 1999

Once again, Terry Taylor and crew have shown that despite the odd, the twisted, and incredibly strange sense of humor, that they actually have a better grip on reality than most of us. Musically, they are a tight tight band. However, like their lyrics, the music is very... odd.

This ablum is for serious music listeners only. This is one group that was not held back by marketers, producers or lack of talent. For those who truely enjoy music will not want to skip any of the tracks on this album. For those that have yet to find out what music is you will probably have a very hard time listening to it or most likely will not like it at all.
