The long wait is over and the story is getting better and better, last book focused on the war of demons, in this book its all about guts and friends arriving at an island after being attacked by none other than the scurvy pirate captain with a monster twist, that all i can say the story still hasnt lost its humor with the fairies and Isidro, good book cant wait for volume 36.

I got hooked on Berserk years ago, and imagine my surprise when I found out that Mr. Miura had been working on this since at least the late 80's! Wow! That gets me to agree with a previous reviewer about this saga not ending anytime soon...not that that really bothers me. I'd rather have the story end in awesomeness and not be rushed or totally anticlimatic. That said, this book, while still maintaining Mr. Miura's incredibly detailed artwork,(no wonder it takes so long for new stuff to come out!) sadly lacks in progression and uses a few too many cliches with the pirates that made me wince during reading. And that is why I will also agree with another previous reviewer that the confrontation with the pirates could have taken up a smaller part of the book rather than be most of the book and continuing into the next book.
But don't let this scare you off of reading this series, I'm stuck till the end. There's no way I could stop reading this just for a few little things like I stated above. Overall, Berserk falls into my top five absolute favorite mangas. It is rated mature, but if you are 18 or older and like dark fantasy/horror then give this a try and start at vol. 1.

it is berserk enough said, there is no need to explain the sheer amount of intense storytelling that this series has to offer, the amount of detail and depth that it is about is absolutely total greatness, be warned this is not your kids graphic novel... that is all

My son has been collecting this series for a number of years. The book came on time, in great shape, and was the correct edition.

I love berserk but I'm losing my mind waiting for the meaningful parts of the story to develop. The last book was amazing and now we divert out attention to some side story stuff. I yearn for the early days of berserk. I feel like there was just more real story there. Look... we all love the demon killing but let's make things happen. All the parts with Griffith in this book were great. Too bad it was just a 10 page tease. With everything that happened in the last book how am I supposed to care about demon pirates? I feel like this whole book could have been reduced to a single chapter or two. I'm starting to think I should just write my own end to the series so I can close this chapter of my life and start a family.
