For some reason, the renderings of these hoods always look abysmal. On the wall, the hood seems far less blocky and intrusive, and balances the look of the Bertazzoni : Professional X304GGVXLP 30 Pro-Style Gas Range stove well. The function of the hood seems fine, though I confess I use the light function far more than I use the ventilation function. The recirculating fan has three stages that make sounds from "vacuum cleaner" to "airplane taking off." The fan has managed to save the rest of the studio from the inevitable results of my husband cooking hamburgers or frying bacon. (smoke. lots and lots of smoke. we no longer have to open the windows for days to recover.)
For those that apparently did not find my review helpful, I have also added a picture of my setup. We've installed it higher than recommended so that my husband is less likely to stab himself in the head with the edges. It still does a decent job of extraction.
Some things to note: generally, the hood does not ship with the chimney; those have to be ordered separately. there are three different chimneys available-- a full width one, a narrow one for 8' ceilings, and a narrow one for taller ceilings. The recirculation kit (also sold separately) will only work with the narrow chimneys.
Finally, I acquired this hood while Bertazzoni was running a special, and included the hood with the range purchase. I would not want to spend over a thousand dollars on this hood-- there are far nicer hoods out there for that kind of money.
Edit: The bulbs finally gave out on the hood, but the Bertazzoni documentation didn't tell me which bulbs they were or how to remove.Read more ›
