Slipknot meets Carcass meets Ministry rapes Fear Factory,
By Liberal Necrologist "typeonegmarshalledu" (South Charleston, West Virginia USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Berzerker (Audio CD)
Ok any grind freak needs to get this album. Anyone thats into Atrax Morgue, Merzbow, Ministry, or some stupid little Industrial Trent Reznor project stuff needs to listen to this. Berzerker has became my favorite goregrind/industrial hybrid metal band. They way surpase Fear Factory in melding death and industrial together. They as well have better masks than Slipknot and if I were Slipknot I would get these guys to tour with me. The vocals on this album is spoken so fast in the standard deathmetal growl. I don't know how they do it. All I know it ends up coming out like some poem. I love it. Bill Steer would be proud of these aussie guys. Oh and be sure to turn down your stereo when you get to the last three experimental noise tracks or you'll end up blowing up your speakers. High frequencies and speakers are not good!!! So check this CD out and visit their website and be sure to look for the second CD thats comming out soon. There is a second edition of this CD available with a 2nd CD with demos and a sample of the next CD from Earache.

Total hate against human being,
By Dying Fetys (Mexico) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Berzerker (Audio CD)
The Berzerker take the misanthropical feelings in you to the extreme. Their low bass, fast guitars, industrial samples, intense drumming and heart-raping vocals create an atmosphere of rage and power. They use a drum machine that reminds me some of Mortician's best work, like in hacked up...The Berzerker's lyrics have a straight misanthropical message that really makes listeners to think about many circumstances of human life that could be changed. The fact that they wear masks does not mean they try to be like a slipknot-mushroomhead-mudvayne-etc-band, but it has a special meaning (in order to understand more, check their webpage); also, in my opinion they play a heavier, more violent music. Buy it if you like extreme music and have enough intelligence to see more than what others see.

When the Ugly become the Beautiful...,
By "unichron" (Newark, NJ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Berzerker (Audio CD)
I'll sum it up like this: The Berzerker plays a brand of metal that is truly ugliness incarnate. If Charles Manson has ever had a song stuck in his head, it would be something by The Berzerker.I'm not much of a gambler, but I'll gladly wager that you have NEVER heard anything like this before. It is truly unique, and really not to be missed. But be careful: when the reviewers say that this album is hardcore, they mean to say that this album IS hardcore. I say: buy the album. You will be stunned. But if you don't like it, I would suggest finding a priest to help you dispose of it.

I don't know what to say, I think I like it???,

I'm not sure where to begin with this one. Once again I happened upon this album while I was looking through some used cds and the album cover and the name of the band just jumped out at me. The band's name is The Berzerker and the album is entitled "Dissimulate". The look of the band on the back of the cd look pretty intense as well as the song titles, being a used cd and at a cheap price I just picked it up. When I put it into my cd player I was somewhat shocked in what I heard. I expected a heavy band, the album being on Earache records made me think that The Berzerker would probably even be a death metal band. Well I was half right. What I got was had Death/techno/industrial metal band.??
Let me just say that industrial death metal just does not work for me at all. However the Berzerker proved me wrong. "Dissimulate" is a fast, intense, heavy, and brutal album everything an extreme metal record should be. I must say that the drum machine turned me off at first. I usually hate drum machines. This is why I have held off on trying a Mortician record. But Berzerker makes it work, well for the most part. I still think I might enjoy the band more if the lost the drum machine and just had a regular drum kit. But then they might loose some of what makes them who they are. To let you know the drum machine sounds like someone is firing an M-60 machine gun in the background along side the beat of the band. So I guess in the respect it kind of works. For some reason I like this cd. There are some catchy grooves in it and the death metal vocals are pretty brutal. I guess the best way to describe this record is it's kind of like a way over hyperactive child who hasn't taken his medication in while and who is also throwing a major temper tantrum. All in all it's a pretty intense record and I can't say I've heard anything like the Berzerker before. However, a warning this album is not for everybody

Industrial Grindcore,
By Bill Lumbergh "yeaahh..." (Initech) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Berzerker (Audio CD)
This band is so intense that they'll basically make your head explode after listening to this. The blastbeats are inhuman, as they're used by a drum machine like Mortician and F**k...I'm Dead, but don't let that be an excuse from enjoying this album. Guitar leads are excellent, which is not usually perfected in grindcore. True, this may not be the most genius music, but it's good nonetheless!

Amazing,
This review is from: The Berzerker (Audio CD)
The first time I heard this music I was amazed. Although they use drum machines I think its great because its amazingly fast and it brings the whole thing together. As for the music, well...I think theres something to it because it messes with your mind. The lyrics for this cd are upside down, sideways, and the words are sometimes jumbled up too, but its okay because for some strange reason if you read them while listening to the music you can read them (well I did). Wierd isn't it. Well I would highly reccomend this to any fan of metal.

First taste of brutality,
This review is from: The Berzerker (Audio CD)
OK, I only have listened the "normal" songs, not the last instrumental tracks. This is what I'll going to say about this release: it's the first CD of the Death/Brutal Industrial metal band from Melbourne, and I'm not going to say it's my favorite album of them. I think they're the most brutal and fastest band in the world of today. The first song I heard of them was the "Elephant Man song", and it's titled "Deform". Man, when I heard it, I experienced the most extreme music my dark ears have ever listened to (but when I heard Dissimulate, this seemed to me weak after hear the track "No One Wins").
OK, this release will be the perfect way to get into The Berzerker's world. I suggest you hear first an mp3, cos maybe it could be so agressive for you. Anyway, it worths the money, and the only explanation for I rated it with 4 stars, it's cos I haven't heard the last three tracks yet. I think if you're interested in this release you shoul buy it here with Dissimulate, their best til this date. Was this review helpful to you?

Pretty killer Gabba-Techno/Grind/Death Metal band,
By Sean (Lakeland, Fl.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Berzerker (Audio CD)
I've been knowing about The Berzerker for a while now, and I can only judge there music on a few, but very enjoyable Mp3's. The Berzerker is a combo of gabba-style Techno drum beats, grinding old-school Death metal chords, Carcass-style vocals, and a big theatrical prescene. I refuse to compare this band to such other masked bands these days, simply for the fact that people will judge soley on that aspect. People...who really gives a flying ... about what kind of masks they wear? If the music is good, then you cannot complain. Of course I will say the masks give a much more darker, horrifying, misanthropic outlook on their music making it much more agressive and theatrical. One thing that struck me was the drumming. It's basically all programmed with techno beats. Roughly gabba (a more agressive form of Techno, for those who don't know), which adss a more cold, inhuman feeling. Not to mention it makes a much more cooler sounding sonic "thud" instead of the regular "boom". This band may not be considered the cream of the crop, but it's very enjoyable if you are looking for more agressive music. Overall, this a very good album. I would reccommend it to anybody who is looking for new refreshing agressive, extreme music.

crazy industrial band,
By Rob Cary (Canonsburg PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Berzerker (Audio CD)
just to tell you ahead of time, not too many people are going to be able to handle this. especially if they're into that nu-metal [stuff] like slipknot, staind, etc..... this band is not comparable to slipknot as in this band is actually heavy. this album has a very misanthropical view which i think is awesome. the sampled drums are fierce and pounding. my favorites are "cannibal rights" and "chronological order of putrefaction". this is a rare gem to get your hands on, so if you do, don't let the opportunity to buy it pass you up.
