I had to own my own copy of the movie and, of course, that meant I had to have the soundtrack too. Trust me, one without the other will leave you feeling incomplete. These works totally complement one another. There is both African and European music to go with the two different settings in the movie. Both are great but the abstraction in the European music Thewlis's character played on the piano haunted me long after the movie was over.

Gorgeous images in Besieged are powerfully matched with enchanting music. I just saw a screening of this film at the Seattle International Film Festival and was so excited to find the soundtrack. Check out this CD and the movie. You won't be disappointed.

I saw the movie Besieged at Midnight sun film festival in Sodankylä and simply fell in love with it. The african songs make you want to dance the moment they hit you and the piano pieces are so beatiful. Go and see the movie or buy the soundtrack. You'll know what I mean.

I am a true lover of soundtracks. The movie was outstanding but to listen to the CD at your discretion is truly the best part. A definite great buy.

The film appealed to me. Not many words, only the music spoke!

Most know the Mozart, Chopin and Scriabin but not many know the music of Alessio Vlad. His "Obstinato" is one of the reasons I bought the film; that piece is that compelling and good! This is a good collection to have for listening if nothing else.

Have seen a screening of the Bertolucci film (not yet released in regular theatres as of this writing) -- haven't heard the CD yet. The film music is beautiful, African at its core, but always makes the leap to a more American ear. It doesn't get better than this -- ever. (see the movie.)
