5.0 out of 5 stars Bessey SVH Clamping System, April 7, 2000
This review is from: Bessey SVH400XL SVH Flooring and Clamping System (Tools & Home Improvement)
Being a professional flooring installer, I have had the opportunity to try numerous laminate flooring clamps. The Bessey SVH Flooring and Clamping System is the only one on the market to have a strap length of 24'. Competitors' clamps are normally only 18'. The design of the clamp ensures that you will never chip or mar the flooring surface while providing more clamping pressure than you will ever need. The thumb screw on the front of the clamp virtually eliminates the need for spacers around the perimeter of the room. Overall,I highly recommend the Bessey SVH Flooring and Clamping System for both professionals and do it yourselfers.

I'm just a do it your selfer, I'm installing 1500 sqft of flooring in my own house. I bought 8 clamps, they our great for pulling joints together. I found that once joints our pulled tight that blue tape holds them in place. If clamps our pulled to tight your last row will come up. I could have easily gotten by with only 2 clamps.

5.0 out of 5 stars great tool buy enough for your job, November 17, 2001

I saw this tool on one of the home improvement shows. Usually, for floating floor installations it's just 'glue & tap the tongue into the grove using a scrap piece'. Using a clamping system is just better and easier. The only thing is BUY ENOUGH CLAMPS for your job size/room. The instructions say use 1 clamp every 30 inches; that's a little too generous, but don't skimp here. Spend a little more--buy several for the long way and one for clamping width-wise. You'll have a job that moves a long quickly and looks like a pro did it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Laminate flooring made easy, February 12, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Bessey SVH400XL SVH Flooring and Clamping System (Tools & Home Improvement)
Get these flooring clamps--your most important tool for putting down laminate that is tight at the joints! I thought laminate such as Pergo had to be pounded together, frequently disturbing already glued joints until I tried these clamps. My seams are now tighter, my flooring goes down faster, and the work is more satisfying. Use a minimum of two for a narrow layout or four--three across the panels and one side to side--to keep and set tight joints over larger areas. They look a little pricey at first, but once you try them, I think you'll agree that they are the best investment you will make in a laminate tool.

I would have given 5 stars except it works best for engineered or laminate type flooring systems. Still works great with real 3/4 inch hardwood, you just have to be carefull and make sure it doesn't slip off the tounge side. If it did real hardwood I would've given it 5 stars.

I ORDERED TWO OF THESE AFTER TRYING TO WEDGE IN THE LAST ROW OF TONGUE AND GROOVE PLANKING WITH A CROW BAR, HAMMER, WEDGES, SCREWDRIVER, ECT.
PLANKING IS JUST TOO EXPENSIVE TO MAR AND CHIP. THESE WORKED GREAT AND NEVER DAMAGED THE FLOORING. WALL BOARD IS JUST NOT MADE TO BE RRYED AGAINST!

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good clamp for flooring work, March 16, 2006

This review is from: Bessey SVH400XL SVH Flooring and Clamping System (Tools & Home Improvement)
I've installed several thousand square feet of 3/4 inch plank flooring as renovation to my existing house and in an extensive addition. Wish I had found this clamp earlier! The only challenge I had was in the final large family room where the starting wall had a long section of baseboard heater that the first row of flooring just slid under. This restricted my ability to hook one side of the clamp to that first board and pull in those challenging boards with a bit a twist. In this case, I use a spreader clamp off of a board from the far wall, or off a board that I temporarily shoot into the floor with my nail gun.

5.0 out of 5 stars A pair of these will get the job done right!, November 30, 2007

I highly recommend this strap for several reasons: cost and easy to use!
I used these straps to keep my joints tight as placing my hardwood flooring(especially with long boards).
It seems a lot easier to use than other products I've seen where you drive nails to brace the tool and crank. With these, you just place the braces from the flooring edge close to the wall to the edge of the wood to be braced, tighten by cranking down, nail, and release! The straps are at least 25' long so you can do a large area with ease! My flooring looks squared by keeping good tight joints and I have no sqeaks!

5.0 out of 5 stars real useful for pre finished flooring, May 16, 2007

This tool is real simple to use and when getting into using longer than 4 foot length sections of pre finished flooring, it is real useful for pulling slightly warped flooring into snug and tightly fitting arrangement.

You cannot use a nailer for making the floor this tight so this clamping tool is real slick for tightening the floor then holding it stable while you nail it into place. I used a Porta nailer for most of my work where I could but the clamping strap system from Bessey actually even gave me enough purchase so a 18 guage 2 inch pneumatic nailer would get me a tight fit. Recommended*****
