The Bessey Tradesman bar clamp has malleable cast jaws, press fitted to the rail so there's no mechanical fastener to loosen over time. It's corrugated for extra strength and powder coated for protection against corrosion. What really separates the Tradesman other "clutch-style" clamps is the set screw which is permanently molded into the sliding arm. It interlocks with serration on six sides of of the rail and it won't let go. The cold-drawn, profiled steel rail is engineered for extra strength and galvanized to prevent stains on wood and it won't rust. The oversized wood handle provides maximum power and maximum comfort, while the oversized Acme thread is designed for faster clamping with less cranking. The large diameter pad surface creates a "soft touch" to minimize the risk of dimpling. Glue-resistant, non-marring plastic caps are standard on all Tradesman bar clamps. This kit contains one 12-inch bar clamp with a depth of 5-1/2 inches and one 8-inch bar clamp with a jaw depth of 4 inches.

Already have 8 of the TG4.008 clamps and found them so handy wanted to buy several more. They're great for all sorts of glue up situations. Very fast and very strong. The non-marring pads spread the force over larger area and don't damage the wood if you use some caution. With these clamps and most others its easy to apply too much force and starve the glue joint. This package is a good deal and look forward to trying the slightly deeper 5.5" throat on the second clamp. Expect it will give me some additional flexibility on occasion but frankly the smaller clamps have been just fine.

I find two and a half inch deep clamps have there limitations, and started looking for some deeper clamps. I find the extra depth of these four inch and five and a half inch deep clamps useful for many applications, such as clamping jigs to bandsaw tables and clamping work pieces to a workbench. I gave four stars for being generally good quality clamps, and the fifth star for the price. (I bought four sets, and am considering buying more.)

I have close to 40 of these clamps in various sizes. They are the workhorse of my woodworking shop. I've had some for more than 7 years now and they work great. EZ to use and far better than the orient knock offs (although I heard some of the bessey clamps are now made in china...so beware). All of mine are the from the Germany manufacturing plant. The only down side is the plastic jaw protector. It will come off over time and surely end up under your largest machine just out of reach. :-) Buy these clamps and you'll never regret it...blows away one-handed squeeze handle clamps.
