I bought this clamp to use for light duty small projects and it has lived up to my expectations. One would possibly assume that since the UniKlamp is the light duty and less expensive version of the K-Body it wouldn't be made to the same standard. Nothing could be more wrong. This clamp is made in Germany like its bigger brother, and the quality is top notch. It performs as well as the K-Body, but is smaller and lighter, and perfect for jobs not requiring the heft of the K-Body clamp. It is still more expensive than comparable clamps but you get what you pay for. I'll add that this is my umpteenth purchase from Amazon and again I have been thoroughly pleased with both service and product. Don't waste your money on cheap junk - buy quality and you won't ever look back.

This is an excellent, well made clamp. You can't go wrong with a Bessey.

I am probably your average home hobbyist woodworker - I've converted my 2 car garage (22' x 24') into my personal wood shop and over the years (8+) I have collected a nice 14" Delta bandsaw, 13" Delta benchtop planner, Powermatic 6" joiner (thru Amazon) and a Powermatic 66 table saw. I primarily make furniture for the family.
I use my Bessey clamps for almost every project. I am currently making small drawers for a spice cabinet project and the Bessey UniClamps were just too big and powerful for a small drawer (1/4" material), so I purchased (2) 6" and (2) 12" UniKlamps to try out. The corners of the Spice Box drawers all we boxjointed, so small parallel action clamps were the perfect choice to use. I liked the clamps, I liked the feel of precision as I tightened, I liked the quality of the tool. My only complaint is the price - I thought they were too expensive for what I got. They work well, they do a good job (parallel jaws) and they cost too much.

Bessey Clamps are the choice of professionals. I wouldn't reccommend the smaller versions because you can buy knock-offs cheaply, that deliver 30-50 psi for staging and gluing. But for larger set-ups (2' 0" and larger), case construction, or on-site fabrication of countertops, the larger versions are rock solid and deliver equal parallel force along the jaw lengnth.I would buy Bessey's at open jaw 50"; less than that you'll be dissappointed, and longing for a hydraulic case clamp. Dream on, in the meantime satisfy yourself with the best. |
