I was hesitant at first at spending the money on this clamp. You can buy two cheaper clamps for the same price. But, "you get what you paid for" usually holds true, especially in tools. So I pulled the trigger and ordered this little Bessey. My first impression was that of relief. I knew I had made the right decision of spending the extra money. This thing is built solid. You should never have to worry about it wearing out under normal use. It's swiveling head allows it to easily and accurately clamp two materials of different sizes together. I would love to have a set of these in several different sizes to fit all my needs but am glad I started out with the 7 inch model.

Forget trying to clamp joints to a piece of angle iron and getting mixed results. Though it's a bit pricey, this clamp is worth every penny. The throat is deep enough to handle larger stock, and swivels so joining different size pieces isn't an issue. Very sturdy cast base, and the copper clad forcing screw resists getting fouled by slag and spatter. There are built in oiling ports for the swivel points and screw. The weight can become a slight issue for overhead or tediously placed joints, you really don't want to drop this thing on your head.

Sturdy cast iron base. The copper clad screw is a must have for welding. The pivit pin and open jaw make it an accurate and versatile tool.
