5.0 out of 5 stars Good Intro to a great band, July 20, 2005
This review is from: Best Of: 10 Best of Series (Audio CD)
I remember the summer of '98 being the last really big time for a bunch of post grunge bands such as Candlebox, 7 Mary 3, and Brother Cane. This collection does a good job of capturing this band in its prime on its first two albums. All the charted singles are here except my disc has the title track from Wishpool even though it lists 'Machette' on the track list!?. Wishpool is still a personal favorite disc of mine and songs like 'Look For Something More' and 'Crow Flies' still make it essential to me. Overall, this is a great set from a band that never got its just due

"Got No Shame" had just been released and I thought it was the best straight-ahead rock that I had heard in years. Just at that time, I happened to be in Seattle when I saw an advertisement saying they were appearing at a small club there. I hadn't heard any of their music beyond that new song on the radio but I knew I had to check out their live show. In one word - amazing! I became a dedicated fan and have purchased everything they ever did. Their music is powerful, deep and innovative without straying from what rock is all about. Buy this CD. Hell, buy all of them. If you are a rock fan, you will not regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly an amazing band., October 21, 2006
This review is from: Best Of: 10 Best of Series (Audio CD)
Brother Cane came to my attention with their first single "Got No Shame" and I was hooked from the get go. Great players all with amazing feel. What was so cool about this band is that they could change up their sound and you had no clue that it was them. The first time I heard "And Fools Shine On" I was completely suprised to find out that it was Brother Cane. They were a top tier rock/blues band and it was a shame when they called it quits. I would highly recommend this CD to anyone who is a fan of great, straight up rock and roll!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Just a small sampling of Brother Cane, November 29, 2005

I discovered Brother Cane in the early 90's when they were the support act for the Aerosmith "Get A Grip" Tour. I'm not usually impressed by most opening acts and not by many bands with just one listen, but Brother Cane rocked. I'm a big fan of blues based rock, and multi-player acts that still have keyboards/organ players (think Tom Petty, REO, Black Crowes). So I have all of Brother Cane's cd's. I just happen to read a review of this disc and found out it had a bonus song not found on their other offerings. As a true fan (and completest) I had to get this. It's certianly the right price! Recommended. And don't miss their first album, it's the best.
