5.0 out of 5 stars They Sure Did Pick The Right Songs...
I own both Volume 1 & 2 of E.W.F.'s greatest hits, and I must say that I'm slighty disappointed (that's only because "In The Stone" isn't on either compilation). If you haven't bought either one of the collections yet, don't get either one of them unless you can't get the latest one that has 17 tracks on it. One thing that really irked me is that this...

EWF is perhaps the greatest band of our time. They had the best songs for a 20 year span and yet the record companies continue to put together greatest hit packages on one cd. How the heck can you have an EWF greatest hits on one cd? Impossible. Hey record company, while you're at it, do the Beatles, Elvis, Stevie and Frank too.

One thing that really irked me is that this particular compilation includes the song "Fantasy," which is on Volume 1. That ticked me off, but considering that they threw in "Love's Holiday" which vies for my 1st favorite between itself and "Can't Hide Love"... it was kinda-sorta forgiveable. Another thing that really igged me as well was the fact that "Turn On The Beat Box" sounds awful (probably because it was made when the 70's had ended). If I had to narrow down any E.W.F. songs to my top 5, it couldn't be done because there's so many hits. If you own this and don't have Volume 1 (or vice versa), get the other one.

2.0 out of 5 stars The Two Stars Are For Presentation, August 31, 2005
This review is from: Best of 2 (Audio CD)
Earth,Wind & Fire's first greatest hits album is so musically well constructed it's almost worth those who own the albums already to have it.The same isn't true with this one-tune's like "Love's Holiday","Serpentine Fire","Mighty Mighty" and "Boogie Wonderland" are classics but the overall album doesn't flow together half as well as the first. The juxtaposition of era's is jarring too-the production and style of some of the songs have too much of a range and makes it seem well....dated in parts.Better to purchase the chronological and extensive 'Eternal Dance' box set-it has ALL the hits in the proper order and is frankly better mastered.

I bought this cd for Love's Holiday, a song I have loved for years but could never find. The other songs are good too!

3.0 out of 5 stars I Am Surprised At All Of The Negative Reviews!!!, January 2, 2006
This review is from: Best of 2 (Audio CD)
I own both Best of CD's by EWF. I am glad that I do. This one completes what I feel are some of their best songs!!! I am surprised at all of the negative reviews! Maybe I missed something??? My favorites on this one are Turn On (The Beat Box), Let's Groove, After The Love Is Gone, and Devotion. I wasn't that much of a fan of EWF till recently...so, maybe they are what I have missed all along.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Collection, September 3, 2006
This review is from: Best of 2 (Audio CD)
back in the day I mainly bought this for the fact that "Love's Holiday" was on it. always had to collect EWF Albums back in the day. I wasn't feeling there WHitney Houston lite cut "Turn on the Beatbox" which was a Poor Man's "Let's Groove". alot of the tracks on here have the 70's Greatness of there Peak&prime time form. EWF along with the Isley brothers are my all time favorite bands.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good stuff.... better horns, January 15, 2000
By
Perhaps the best part of any Earth, Wind, and Fire track is the horn section. Adding a distinctive character to the music, the EWF horns make the band. The songs included on this compilation include the well-known collaboration with The Emotions, and also the funky Let's Groove. Fantasy is an EWF standard and assumes a rightful place on the record as well. This is a good collection to buy if you like a little funk, and you don't want to buy the box set.
