4.0 out of 5 stars love this book!
I absolutely love me some sushi so a book like this saved me a lot of money but still allows me to eat my favorite food. Recipes are easy to follow & it tastes great!

. . .And really that's the only way I can imagine the reasoning behind this book; as a joke, or maybe on a dare. the author did her very best to put together a list of sushi rolls that might be found appealing to the westerner. . . With little success. Peanut butter and Jelly? I won't even justify that with the much deserved "PUHHHLEEEEEEEASE"!

. . .And really that's the only way I can imagine the reasoning behind this book; as a joke, or maybe on a dare. the author did her very best to put together a list of sushi rolls that might be found appealing to the westerner. . . With little success. Peanut butter and Jelly? I won't even justify that with the much deserved "PUHHHLEEEEEEEASE"!

The book is short of facts, shorter on technique and devoid of any history whatsoever.

Well over half the rolls are either western concoctions or creations straight from the author's imagination. Some of my fav's being the "Eggs McSushi Roll" (Tamago), the "Anchovy and Sun dried Tomato Roll", the "Mussel Shoals Roll" and what Japanese cookbook would be complete without the "Prosciutto and Cantaloupe Roll". . . There's always the "Blackened Catfish Roll" for those of you with a taste for Cajun Sushi. And for you Brit's, how about the "Tomato and Cucumber Roll". . . Try it with beans.

Did I really spend 4 bucks on this?

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth the four dollars, February 8, 2000
This review is from: The Best 50 Sushi Rolls (Paperback)
I think a better book on sushi could have been written by a dyslexic ape. It seems like the author, never having seen sushi, did some web browsing and wrote a book. There are recipes in this book for PEANUT BUTTER AND JELLY SUSHI ROLLS. It's beyond wrong. BACON, LETTUCE, AND TOMATO SUSHI ROLLS. I can only assume this book is someone's idea of a sick joke.

1.0 out of 5 stars Waste of Money!!!!, January 15, 2007

This book was a joke!! It was an actual insult to Japanese cuisine. I thought that this was going to be a nice little book with recipes for some great sushi rolls, but I got surprised!! There are no pictures or diagrams what-so-ever except the one on the cover. And the sushi rolls that they have listed are horrible......"goat cheese, corn, and basil roll", "blt roll", and "peanut butter and jelly roll". Get real.
Don't even waste your money on this book. It should have a negative rating if that was possible.

It is tiny and cheap, comes off as one of those freebies Bon Appetit gives away with your paid subscription, although even smaller! I only gave it one star because the system wouldn't allow for no stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting AMERICAN Sushi, May 15, 2000
This review is from: The Best 50 Sushi Rolls (Paperback)
As a Japanese and an aficionado of sushi, I enjoyed this American sushi book. I mean it's not telling authentic sushi and even contains wrong information (such as wiping your face with a hot towel before eating sushi, buy a drink to your sushi chef if he is doing a nice job for you, and saying KANAPI, the equivalent of "cheers." NEVER!) . Still "THE BEST 50 SUSHI ROLLS" is an interesting reading. I can see how different the way of eating sushi American people do is from the one Japanese do. Very curious if you really like peanut & butter roll. By the way, why they don't put the author's profile?

No photos except the one on cover. Very small 41/2 x 6 inches. and I was expecting a lot more. Keep looking for a better book on sushi.

Inadequate to say the least, a terrible book.
No pictures, not worth the price.
Deceptive, don't bother.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless Cookbook, July 9, 2009
This review is from: The Best 50 Sushi Rolls (Paperback)
A very worthless cookbook on Sushi. With this book, the author insults those of us that are sushi lover. Pay me to read this book, NO WAY! If there is a ZERO rating, this book desrves it!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, November 25, 2007
This review is from: The Best 50 Sushi Rolls (Paperback)
These are basically recipes for sushi rolls I've never heard of. No recipes for the classic rolls like the J&B, Mexican and Hurricane. I would have liked something a little less "creative" and a little more authentic.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disturbing, to say the least, August 30, 2006
This review is from: The Best 50 Sushi Rolls (Paperback)
This is by far the most retarted book on sushi i have ever seen. It almost makes me embarrased to call myself an American. I have NEVER seen anything like this before, and im sure the sushi bars all over America who make wonderful authentic Japanese sushi would be mortified to see this book.

none of the recipes sound good at all, and its a huge disapointment considering it's titles claim. at most, the so called 'western' sushi recipes look and sound disgusting.
