i own 450+ cd's and this is one of my top five. just about every song on it is pure butter. being a serious jazz keyboardist, i could delve into the finer musical attributes of this album, but to make a long story short, i didn't know music could be this good until i heard this album. 1.0 out of 5 stars Nice Elevator Music
Acid Jazz has pretty much come and gone and this CD can explain why. The genre just never attracted many real jazz musicians. Can this really music really be considered Jazz with an edge? Where is the Acid? For that matter, where is the Jazz? Easy-listening instrumental music with a beat track is what this is.

5.0 out of 5 stars It's got the groove alright, January 14, 1999

Here in this radio hellhole called Houston, "Acid Jazz" cannot be found. Pity us. So it was a pleasant surprise when I ran across this CD at, of all places, the public library. I've been confused about what "Acid Jazz" even meant, but, if this is it, give me more! I had not heard of one single artist on this compilation, but they are my new favorites. If this is truly Acid Jazz, then it's contemporary jazz, without the schmaltz, or words, but with an extra kick and a bite. I love it. I will be seeking out music by each and every one of these artists.

5.0 out of 5 stars Purely excellent!!, November 15, 2002
This review is from: Best of Acid Jazz 2 (Audio CD)
I have had this CD for some months now, and I can NEVER get tired of it. I've always been an Acid Jazz fan, and came across it @ my local Barnes & Nobles. It is truly the BEST of Acid Jazz; I especially enjoy tracks 2,3, 9 & 10. These "unknowns" need more recognition. Heck, they need it more than some of these "superstars". Anywho, order it/pick it up today & let your soul dip and jive (does that make sense? :)

I thought I lost this CD and have been longing to hear it for a long time now. I just found it in an old stereo I put out by the curb.

I forgot how unbelievably great this CD is. It's got some really cool grooves. I'm not quite sure what exactly acid jazz and I don't know these artists but it's just, well, cool. I'm not sure how else to describe it.

It never gets old and always seems perfect when I'm not sure what else to listen to. It brings sunshine to an overcast day, a little upbeat tempo for a wayward spirit, a little but of soul on those soulless days.

5.0 out of 5 stars Libraries Rock!, October 29, 2002
This review is from: Best of Acid Jazz 2 (Audio CD)
In response to the previous reviewers' surprise at finding this CD at a public library - many libraries have GREAT collections of CDs, and I encourage everyone to take a look for themselves. I am a librarian and part of my job is to select CDs for our collection; we have over 4,500 CDs to choose from, and we're not that big of a public library. You'll be surprised to see all of the funky, hip recordings at your local library!

4.0 out of 5 stars Must have!, August 25, 2003
This review is from: Best of Acid Jazz 2 (Audio CD)
Overall, this cd is pretty great but some tracks still drag. The best I've encountered is Arrow of Truth by Brian Tarquin. The electric guitar blends with rest of the tracks in a soft and mellow. Nice to chill to.
