"...it's the genuine old shut-ma-mouf Southern recipes which are the great appeal of the book." -- Eugene Walter, Alabama Magazine

5.0 out of 5 stars Recipes to Share, November 6, 2010
This review is from: Best of the Best from Alabama: Selected Recipes from Alabama's Favorite Cookbooks (Plastic Comb)
I bought this book at a "brick & mortar" store and could flip through it before purchasing. It suits my needs. When I think of food in the South, I think of church fellowship gatherings, pot luck dinners and brunches. This book is about 25% desserts, 25% appetizers, breads & beverages recipes. Another 25% consist of salads and soups. That's about 75% of the book for public gatherings. The other 25% consists of vegetables, seafood, poultry & game and meats. I guess if you want to use this book to cook nightly dinners, it might not be for you. However, if you need recipes to take to gatherings or to host a special get-together, this book will do the trick.

I was disappointed in this cookbook, I grew up in Alabama and the recipes I was hoping to see were not in here......
