It's 1 of his best,but..., April 27, 1999

This review is from: The Best of (Audio CD)
The greatest hits by Alexander O'Neal is 1 of his best work, but there is just a few thing missing from this CD. All of the songs aren't there; like 4 example: "What's Missing?", "What Is This Thing Called Love?", "The Yoke-G.U.O.T.R.", plus a whole lot more. I guess what I'm trying 2 say is that all of these jams and more should be 12" versions (the hard 2 find stuff), U know? Don't get me wrong. Alexander O"Neal is the man and always will be, but his greatest hits should like this: A Broken Heart Can Mend, If U Were Here 2night, Innocent-12", What's Missing?-12", U Were Meant 2 Be My Lady-Not My Girl-12", Hearsay, The Lovers-12", Fake-12", Criticize-12", Never Knew Love Like This-12", Crying Overtime, Sunshine, All True Man, What Is This Thing Called Love?-12", The Yoke-G.U.O.T.R., Time Is Running Out, Love Makes No Sense, If U Let It, Aphrodesia, In The Middle, Lady, & Home Is Where The Heart Is; all on Tabu Records or another label. Plus the previous released LP's should be re-released all on CD, like; Alexander O'Neal-(1), Hearsay-(2), All True Man-(3), Love Makes No Sense-(4), All Mixed Up- the album after "Hearsay". Now his latest CD, "Lovers Again" is the Bomb! in the best way possible.
Thanx 4 listening people. Oh If any-1 knows how I can get of the SOS Band, Cherrelle, and Alexander O'Neal on CD please let me know. Thanx again 4 listening. Peace and Love Always,

Alexander O'Neal - The Soul Man, January 13, 2002

Whatever song this guy performs I love em all!!
With special preference given to 'If You Were Here Tonight', which this album features in its full 6mins10secs.
This is a great album, but to be titled The Best Of Alexander O'Neal, it is missing some of his best hits....
'Sentimental'. 'What Can I Say To Make You Love Me' and 'The Lovers'. To mention only a few.
But what the hell, Alex is THE MAN, and this album is still FAB!

Johnny Gill has nothing on this man's voice!, December 22, 1998

Alexander O'Neal has spent most of his career overshadowed by other male R&B singers. Jeffery Osbourne and Luther shut him out of the 80's when his albums were expertly produced by Flyte Tyme. The early 90's saw the "All True Man" disc beat out by solo efforts of a disbanded New Edition.
Most of the songs on this CD are from O'Neal's amazing Hearsay album. My tape is worn out at long last and I'm left to replace it with this greatest hits collection. I cannot live without "Never Knew Love Like This". By the way, "If You Were Here Tonight" from his first album was one of the most romantic songs of the 80's--and not too shabby a video, either. Sigh. Lemme go find my hubby and get a hug...
