Another hit from America's Test Kitchen,

This review is from: The Best of America's Test Kitchen 2008: The Year's Best Recipes, Equipment Reviews, and Tastings (Hardcover)
My husband and I own several of the Cook's Illustrated (America's Test Kitchen) cookbooks and the magazine is fab. This is another winner from these great folks. For years my husband showed no interest in cooking. Then he pulled their cookbook America's Test Kitchen's Family Cookbook off the shelf and he was hooked. I highly recommend all their publications.

After borrowing this book from a local library, I just had to purchase it. I have to admit that I am a tried and true Bon Apetit cook and usually don't stray, but I've tried MOST of the recipes in the book and boy are they easy to make and delicious. It has taken the guess work out of "What's for dinner?"
Special raves from the family were the 30 minute meat loaves, the slow cooker brisket and onions and those Chinese sticky ribs... I've made those 5 times since I purchased the book! YUMmmmm... The greatest advantage of all of the recipes tried is that the items needed for each recipe are readily had from your local grocer and have been tested so you WON'T waste your time and more importantly, your hard-earned money. If you are tired of trying to come up with wonderful ideas for dinner, look no more. It's right at your fingertips! Merry Street/Zenspiration Gardens www.Zen-opolis.com

I love everything from "America's Test Kitchens". Their books are easy to read and follow and they have taken all of the guess work out of making everyday recipes. You end up with the tried and true version and they haven't let me down yet.
I received this book just before Christmas and made a dessert from one of the many receipes. It turned out perfect! Keep these books coming!

My cousin watches this TV show and she is now pouring over this cookbook, which I got her for Christmas. She loves it and is thrilled to have all of the recipes in one place. She is truly excited about making the recipes, loves the kitchen equipment reviews and is having a great time with it.

America's Test Kitchen/Cook's Illustrated has done it again! Yet another perfect cookbook, with no-goof recipes that yield the best possible result.
The clincher for me will always be the tried-and-true approach to the recipes showcased in these collections. Thank you, ATK, for making 100 different cakes so I can make just 1 perfect one! Another huge plus was the recommendation of Barilla no-boil lasagna noodles. Because of the homemade manicotti recipe found in this volume, I have a new favorite lasagna noodles. And yes, they really do rival fresh noodles in taste and consistency. These cookbooks are constantly the first ones I reach for. Always a pleasure.

I love this book, finally combined are the 2 things I love about food; the technology of what works and what doesn't work & seeing how it turns out. I love cooking, I dislike following recipes - I see them as more of a roadmap with me doing the driving. Food should be created using S.O.S. seasonal, organic and substainable (all when possible). I really like the way this book was presented.

This cookbook is simply excellent. A cookbook really has to knock my socks off to get any play in my kitchen, I really prefer to be able to download and print recipes, so I stick to Bon Appetit, Cooking Light, various Food Network shows, etc. This cookbook is the rare exception, and lives up to its name.
The footnotes in the recipes that explain the twists and turns that led them to the ultimate recipe are very enlightening to the amateur chef - I've learned a lot reading those bits of knowledge.

This is a great cookbook because it walks you through all the steps to make the dishes and gives you the data behind why they did what they did. All that I have made from it is just great.
