From the Back Cover

Who’s the best?
Who’s the worst?

Every L.A. fan knows that the only thing better than watching sports is arguing about them-picking the best, the worst and who will come out on top. And no city tears its sports teams apart like we do in Southern California.

Veteran sportwriter J.A. Adande takes you inside the 100 best debates in L.A. sports. Covering the Lakers, Clippers, Dodgers, Angels, Trojans and beyond, every question you want to debate is here-as well as a few surprises.

Will the NFL return to Los Angeles?

What was Kobe Bryant’s greatest performance?

Who had the better rookie season, Fernando Valenzuela or Magic Johnson?

What was the greatest UCLA basketball team?

What’s the better rivalry, Dodgers–Giants or Lakers–Celtics?

Seriously:
Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim?

About the Author

J.A. Adande grew up in Santa Monica, Calif., and gained his first exposure to big-time sports at the Forum, the Coliseum, Dodger Stadium and the Sports Arena. After working at the Chicago Sun-Times and Washington Post, he has delivered his take on the world of sports to Los Angeles Times readers for more than a decade. He also is a regular panelist on ESPN's "Around the Horn."

I really liked the book. I bought it for the basketball stories on the Lakers but the football, baseball etc. pieces were also a good read. I like Adande's style a lot.

The one Lakers player over the past billion years who needs to be talked about is... KOBE??? like we need to know more? vs kareem or magic or blah blah blah, all these guys who are greats and who young people want to know about from the seasoned eyes of someone who was there, or going back to west and wilt, only, no.

you get to hear more about kobe.

blech.
