Extensive Book,
This review is from: Best of Ani DiFranco (Paperback)
I was pleased when i received this book to find out there are 22 songs & over 175 pages, many more than i had anticipated. I like the selection of songs from her early career up to 1999, if you are a fan of the newer songs you may want to look elsewhere. The songs show the lyrics, guitar chords, guitar melody, and the piano notes all together. The list of songs are: Angry Anymore, Anyday, As is, Both Hands, Everest, Fire Door, Gratitude, Gravel, I'm no Heroine, Jukebox, Little Plastic Castle, Lost Woman Song, Napoleon, Overlap, She Says, 32 Flavors, 'Tis of Thee, Two Little Girls, Untouchable Face, Willing to Fight, and You Had Time.

Both Hands,

Well, if you are interested in learning to play piano to Ani's guitar rifts, than this is the book for you. Personally, I was too cheap to buy the guitar book for double the price, so I figured I'd work my way through the piano parts. I was wrong. Perhaps if you are someone very talented at converting [?] music, than this is the book for you. But for you novices, I'd rethink. However, I did learn her songs, strange tunings and all, and the book really led you inside her music. I'd recommend it somewhat highly. No matter what, Ani still rocks!

The songs included are some of my favorites. They are much more complex than they sound, and difficult to play/sing. You definitely should be more on the advanced side to get through these successfully. It makes me appreciate her music even more.

There are a few good transcriptions here, but most of the songs are really best played on guitar. A majority of the transcriptions are so basic that a list of chords would be just as useful. Would have been nice to have songs like "Hello Birmingham," "Done Wrong," and "Adam and Eve."

Learn to play Ani Songs,
This review is from: Best of Ani DiFranco (Paperback)
I bought an Ani book like this one, but it was red and it was all guitar tablature, which was great, i loved it, but I was unfamiliar with alot of the songs on it. So I bought this one cuz it has some of her more popular songs on it, however, the set back is it's not really for guitar, it's more for piano and vocal, however it does have the guitar chords in the sheet music. Which works out well, it's just not as intimate as the tablature style book. I recommend it for anyone who wants to learn how to play some righteous babe music.
