April 20, 2011
The Underfold is a web-based comic strip by Brian Russell. This first collection houses strips from the first two and a half years worth of publishing, commentary from the author and the humble origin story.

Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

"I'm not going to lie to you: The Underfold is weird. You're probably asking, 'What do you mean? Is it "good" weird or "bad" weird?' Therein lies the conundrum. I don't believe that terms such as 'good' and/or 'bad' are apt descriptors for the kind of 'weird' that is happening in this comic strip. All I can tell you to do is grab a strong drink, sit in a comfortable chair, and suspend your concept of reality for a little while as you take in the indescribable weirdness that is The Underfold. (Seriously. There's a talking eyeball.)"
-Wes Molebash, creator of You'll Have That and Max vs. Max

"Bag-puppets, tentacles, and sentient eyes. These might sound like the beginnings of a horrifying nightmare, but somehow they combine to be consistently funny. To me this indicates that Brian Russell is either a genius or, much more likely, deranged. You should approach him at your own risk."
-Ian "xy" Bergren, Member of the Fold

5.0 out of 5 stars Print Beats Internet! April 25, 2011
By Mike P
Format:Paperback
Once upon a time, I found a little comic called the Underfold and immediately tried to figure out what it's deal was. When I found out, I began wondering how its strips of varying formats would fit into a book. Well, now I need wonder no more! Reading these comics on the printed page is a delight unmatched by their digital counterparts, and the guest strip adds a bit of bang for your book-buying buck. So yes, you should buy this. It is a good thing. A very good thing.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Only Way To Mat The Underfold Better.... April 22, 2011
Format:Paperback
I think they only way to make The Underfold (theunderfold.com) better would be to put it in book form so I can hold it in my hands and flick through it willy-nilly.

I can't wait to get my copy and I'll update this review with how awesome (or otherwise) it is then!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesomely Weird Stuff May 7, 2011
Format:Paperback
Underfold is a weird comic... and that's a very good thing. It's funny, offbeat, and generally just this side of surreal. I mean, in what other comic do the main characters just up and decide one day to have tentacles instead of arms? That's Python-level weirdness, people!

Of note for aspiring and practicing webcomicers, this collection lays out the evolution of a webcomic and an artist, with comments for nearly every strip. It's always interesting to see the thought process behind strips, and here that thought process turns out to be just as funny and unpredictable as the strips themselves.

I can't wait for the next collection!
