You're staring at something, you finally get to SEE, November 19, 2005
This review is from: Best Of Babes in Toyland (Audio CD)
Since I never got the chance to see Babes in Toyland live, this set was worth it just for the DVD. It includes early performances as well as later ones. It's neat to see how the band evolved and really grew up. The formatting is strange though and it only plays in my computer, but I love Babes so much that it doesn't bother me. Highly Recommended, you won't be disappointed!

Finally!, December 29, 2004
This review is from: Best Of Babes in Toyland (Audio CD)
Babes In Toyland are one of my favorite bands from the early '90s grunge scene, and I'm glad they finally decided to put this compilation out. It's well worth it for the DVD which includes concerts, pictures, interviews, and their music videos (which I have never seen before, since I was too little back then). The cd spans Kat Bjelland's entire career, taking snippets from Spanking Machine, To Mother, Fontanelle, Painkillers, and Nemesisters. The second half of the CD includes an old 1985 lyrical version of 'Quiet Room' from one of Kat's bands with Courtney Love. There is also a song from another one of her old bands, The Italian Wh*re Nuns (note: the sound quality is horrible). After that, it goes onto songs from Kat's new band, Katastrophy Wife. I must say, I was a bit disappointed with Katastrophy Wife. It sounds somewhat generic, and Kat has lost some of her originality that made Babes In Toyland unique. This is not to say the songs are bad, not at all. They have grown on me. It's just that her lyrics seem a bit corny at times (i.e. Money Shot) which is rare for Kat, because her lyrics were always superb. Other than that, I am glad that she refuses to sell out (unlike some people.. *cough* Courtney *cough*). Kat Bjelland has done more for women in rock than most people realize. This compilation is a must-have for die-hard fans or casual fans like me.
