4.0 out of 5 stars Well Worth It
It's not the classic BTO line up. This is the reunion edition of Randy Bachman, Tim Bachman, C.F. Turner, and Gary Peterson. Peterson is a powerhouse drummer all through the disc. Also the sound and feel of the disc is pure rock and roll. Meaning they play the songs with conviction and spirit. And they play some rousing renditions as well. No resting on their laurels...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad
Interesting album made in the 80's. BTO tackles "American Woman" and "Mississippi Queen", both tailor made for Fred Turner's powerhouse vocals. The inclusion of the much underrated "Blue Collar" and the super-twangy Guess Who classic "Shakin' All Over show the guitar stylings of Randy Bachman to full effect. BTO favourites like "Takin' Care of Business", "Not Fragile"...

Also the sound and feel of the disc is pure rock and roll. Meaning they play the songs with conviction and spirit. And they play some rousing renditions as well. No resting on their laurels here. It's BTO doing what they do best. The basic no frills production on this disc is an overdue blessing. What needs to be here, is here, and what doesn't need to be here, isn't here. This preserves the excitement of the live setting.
Recommended for both the casual fan and the true BTO maniacs.

For those who have never heard BTO anywhere other than their FM radio, this is not the live album for you to buy. I saw the boys on this tour and I can reallly appreciate this recording. Hence the title of my review. I am a huge BTO fan and I would have bought it regardless but I do listen to this CD quite a bit as I enjoy hearing a different sound. It is a good recording and the price is right. This is nothing like the 1977 Live in Japan album that STILL is not on CD. That live album is one of the best I have ever heard.

I have been a Bachman Turner Overdrive fan for the last 26 years. Even without the original band members this still is a good CD to have.

5.0 out of 5 stars What can you say but B.T.O. is the best., August 10, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
When I found live B.T.O. to download for this price I jumped all over it. I bought both live Best of's immediately. The quality of the sound is awesome. I was particularly impressed with CF Turner's voice and Randy Bachman's guitar work. RB's lead work on Shakin All Over and American Women is absolutely incredible and the sound quality is so good you can tell he is playing a Fender Telecaster. Also impressive was the drumming by Rob Bachman who is very under rated in my opinion.

The whole download is unreal but if you had to put a gun to my head about which songs are the best here you go; Not Fragile, Gimme Your Money Please, Blue Collar, Rock is My Life and 4 Wheel Drive. The best songs occur when RB and CFT share the vocal work in the same songs, chorus and lead. Great stuff.

If you are a fan of this era buy this right away.

1.0 out of 5 stars not worth having..unless, August 18, 1999
This review is from: Best of Bachman-Turner Overdrive Live (Audio CD)
terrible arrangements when compared to the sound stage versions..the rhythems were terrible and quite frankly the recording was terrible...a lot of noise...a lot of yelling...a lot of me pressing the next button on my cd....not worth the money unless you really have to have all the BTO cds
