This review is from: Best of Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra (Audio CD)
Barry White is a pure musical genius. The Maestro has shown us that he doesn't have to necessarily sing anything but to have his Orchestra play for him will still set the mood off right. One of my favorite cuts on the album is Can't You See. His music just flows along and you can just "feel the emotion" running straight through you. There is another cut on the CD that a rap group sampled. The Theme from the Together Brothers was sampled for C'mon Ride the Train for the 69 Boyz. Just goes to show you that the music of today is not much creative than it was back then. I wish there were more notable cuts from the Orchestra that was not on this particular CD. But however, this is a MUST BUY for a Barry White fan. Magnifico!!

This review is from: Best of Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra (Audio CD)
Though he was not the first artist to mix classical strings with popular beats and rhythms, Barry White's unique blending of the two made him a standout on the musical scene of the mid-70's through the early 80's. This compilation represents the best of the orchestra that provided the background to many of his hit singles, as well as charttopping tracks released as solo performances from the group.
Most "best of" collections leave out some fan favorites. This one is no different, for most of the cuts are culled from the ensemble's 70's releases, starting with "Rhapsody in White" (1974) and ending with 1979's "Super Movie Themes, Just a Little Bit Different". Although the group would release four more albums in the 80's, none of those albums are represented here; thus, a more inclusive offering may be in the future. This reviewer would've preferred that, along with the "Theme from 'King Kong'", the orchestra's version of "As Time Goes By," the group's killer reworking of Isaac Hayes's "Theme from 'Shaft'" had been included. However, that is crying over spilled milk and this album is still a fine introduction to the group that helped to supply the "silky soul" to the singer with the "bedroom delivery."

The "Bach" of Soul Romance -- Mr. Barry White,

This review is from: Best of Barry White's Love Unlimited Orchestra (Audio CD)
INCREDIBLE CD! This CD is so cool that I had to get two copies. Not one song is a sleeper. In fact, Mr. Barry White's orchestration will lift you into a ballroom with tails and top hat if you may. He is so talented, and short of recognition (unfortunately). This CD is a perfect catch to romance and pleasure. Don't miss it. LAST NOTE..WE ALL WISH MR. BARRY WHITE A SUCCESSFUL RECOVERY. MR. WHITE, YOU ARE IN MY PRAYERS. 11.4.02 **Angi**
