Great stuff - but some of the best missing, March 13, 2009

Although all of this material has been previously released, it is a fine collection. If you have only know Golson from the Jazztet and the Jazz Messengers, this is a excellent introduction to some of his other work with many other jazz legends including Max Roach, Art Blakey, Curits Fuller, J. J. Johnson, Kenny Dorham, Art Farmer, Tommy Flanigan and others.
Note: This collection doesn't have anything from Golson's best known and most historically significant work on the Jazztet or Jazz Messengers sessions. Two CDs that feature Golson and must-have albums for any serious jazz fan are: Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers
Moanin' from 1958 and
Meet the Jazztet from 1960.
