Almost perfect,

This review is from: Best Black Gay Erotica (Paperback)
Cleis has been releasing black gay/lesbian titles over the past few years (Black Like Us, Vanishing Rooms, Time on Two Crosses) with much success, so it isn't surprising that they'd finally go where no other publisher has gone before with this first ever erotica collection by/for/about black gay men. Actually, it isn't, at least not 100%; one of the authors is white (not surprisingly, his story is the weakest), and the manner in which the book is being packaged (the back matter has a tease that utlizies terminology often associated with white gay men) leads me to believe they want non-blacks to pick it up. But I can't argue with the variety of voices featured or the distinct writing styles. And while it would have been nice if the author asked james Earl Hardy to contribute something new, it's fitting that that first sex scene between Pookie and Li'l Bit from B-Boy Blues would start things off. Things just get better, bigger, and hotter with each new story. With 'Kevin', Christopher David proves that he's definitely a writer to watch, and Reginald Harris' 'The Gift' is just as vivd and hypnotic as his poetry. This anthology couldn't have come along at a better time, what with black gay/bi/questioning men being sexually demonized in all forms of media, no thanks to all this nonsense about the down low. I can't wait for #2 to drop.

i purchased this book as a christmas gift for my brother who is gay. I am not gay, but he called me and thanked me for this book and in doing so he went into such great details about how well-written and thought provoking these stories are that i had to borrow it and read it myself. While it didnt have me in the bathroom with lotion and tissue, i could see how a homosexual could easily use it for that purpose. However, what i liked most about this book is that the charactors and stories are so well developed that it is easy to forget that its intended to be gay erotica. It reads more like a charactor study to me.

Nicely compiled and good selection of stories from the author. I did give it 5 stars because I encourage others to buy this, but I needed to read a better Foreword than what was done. It was like the author was in a hurry. Probably rightly so. In a hurry for you to read the juicy parts... Stank and The Pain Seeker are so erotic and a great introduction to the other pleasurable side of homoeroticism for nosotros.

A very good read,
A Kid's Review

I concur with all the previous reviewer stated. This book was satisfying to me for the most part. There were only two stories I didn't care for, but I love the rest. My favorite story is "Stank." It's a little dirty but nothing I can't handle. I was like touching that I male that rough & stank really cared for the other male. Overall, a satisfying book for stories that is recommended.

HNNNG,
This review is from: Best Black Gay Erotica (Paperback)
Okay, so this is so hot. Even the cover is hot. All of these beautifully written stories is readable over and over again, and provides one with hours of explosive fun. Except the story written by the white guy. That one was weak. I hope they release more of these great hot black erotic storybooks.

Out of 18 authors, a handful of the stories qualifed as the Best Black Gay Erotica.
Although, a standout is Tip Langley's The Passion. One can skip James Earl Hardy..Tired! Overall, I would recommend the book. |
